Congratulations on your retirement Mike, you are gonna missed. As everyone alluded to, you are a class act and definitely the best of the best.
When you listen to the announcers on ESPN+ , you realize how fortunate we were to have a play by play person such as yourself.

Enjoy retirement and keep in touch here , we always appreciate your insights.

Regards, Duke

@obd Criswell did play-by-play with the SIU Broadcasting Service and I believe that was only WSIU-FM and not a commercial outlet.  In the early 70s, he had a young student color man, Rick Rizzs, who went onto great things with the Seattle Mariners and had the thankless job of replacing Ernie Harwell in Detroit for a time.

Congratulations on the retirement.  A great loss to the Saluki nation, but how lucky we have been to have had someone like Mike Reis for all these years.  I hope he enjoys many years of retirement as we have enjoyed his many years as the voice of the Dawgs.

Reis said he lost the passion for doing the job and was gonna retire after the 21-22 season on a new podcast on Valley Hoops Insider.

Reis talks about being 27 years old when he broadcast SIU Football National title in 1983.  So I guess Mike is 67.

I could listen to Reis talk about stuff all day long.

Part 1 is 20 minutes

Supporter of the Fab 4: Scottie Ebube, Foster Wonders, AJ Ferguson & Cade Hornecker.

They’re the ones that can get us where we haven’t been in 15 years.

Reis also says people called him a fool for saying that SIU was possibly going to drop down to Division II if Rich Herrin teams hadn’t started making some NIT appearances before the Valley Tournament 3-peat.

He also said SIU was arrogant around 2008.

he said Darren Brooks basically wanted to tell SIU to stick the redshirt up their ass and that Kent Williams was the only local player to truly make a difference in home attendance.

There is a Part 2 coming soon.  Harry Schroeder conducted the interview.

Basketball, football, and baseball all looked to have potentially special seasons, I'd guess that's why he held out for one more year.  Really sucks all 3 underachieved.

It really is a shame we couldn't give him one more postseason run. He's right about the 2008 arrogance. I remember basically scoffing at the NIT, and the recruits we had coming in I was very much like "Oh it's back on no problem"

Sheesh were we wrong.

Sheesh were we wrong.

We were signing arrogant players in that time period. Kevin Dillard was a shining example. We all know who the coach was.

I was mad at Lowery for the longest time. Mike did a great interview with him during the season this year. Chris certainly has regrets and stated how he would've done a lot of things differently and has learned so much since his time here.

Could someone link the interview with Reis? I seem to remember seeing a link a few days ago, but can't find it now.

That interview is one of the main reasons I have totally forgiven C Lo.

. I agree it wasn’t Cleo’s fault.  And can’t blame him for taking the job.  Obviously should never had been hired.  Clo simply wasn’t qualified.  It was the AD’s failure.  Who was it?  That loser Mario?  Probably.  Look at the state of NMSU’s athletic department.

I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!

You mean Clo that nearly got SIU to the elite 8 wasn’t qualified.  And who in the world has to forgive a college coach for failing.  What color is the sky in your worlds?
