My two cents from the first two games of the year. Mayo does not need to play that much. I know people are going to rip me for saying this. What has he done that is productive. Especially compared to what we have. Heck I say give Steffe more minutes, let him grow. Steffe is a very underrated passer as well! Elliot needs to be a 32+ min guy every night. Brings to much energy to the team to not play that much. Sykes can not shoot, like at all. He is a 4 in my opinion and should not take any shots unless he is driving to the rim. Like his game overall but man some dumb shots tonight. I like Aligbe’s game but I thought he could shoot a little? Not seen him try to spread the floor and shoot a 15fter etc. I think people are crazy to be upset with anything we have seen with this team. Give them time! The minutes still are being figured out along with players adjusting to a new style. We will be fine and think that Oklahoma state should be on upset alert Thursday.

I totally concur with your Mayo and Sykes assessments. I've been completely underwhelmed by both them in the first two games. Sykes misses way to many bunnies, and is shooting too many threes.  Mayo needs to contribute more in all facets of the game or I'd rather see Sharpe get a chance.

Steffe looked very good defensively I thought.  He passed the ball really well like you said too. I think he will find his shot in due time.

Elliot and Kenard and Diba are studs and will be carrying this team.

So, are Bey and Sharp in line for a redshirt, too?

Steffe played 19 minutes. Didn't see good shooting from him - hope it shows up.

Eliot needs to start and get 35 minutes a game, like Jones and Domask! LOL

Sykes is a very good rebounder so he definitely deserves some minutes. I'd like to see Massey and Aligbe get more minutes.

Think Nagy was just trying out everybody tonight. I expect the lineup will be more stable at OSU. We'll need way better D to avoid a spanking.

Nagy mentioned the crappy 1st half postgame.

Not sure about either but Webber should be.  I still don't get why Sharp didn't redshirt last year.  They specifically used him in garbage time.

wow.  Had to listen to that twice.  Damn, Nagy was not happy. The comment about the “AAU mentality….” THAT was telling.

MOO - great game.

I'm not sure if I should be refreshed by Nagy's candor during the postgame show or dismayed because he's throwing players under the bus! Either way, though, you have to give him credit for telling it like it is. ... I predicted over the summer that Davis would make a quantum leap this season and emerge as a star and leader, and it seems to be happening during this early period when everything else is in a state of flux.

Agree about Sykes. His rebounding and athleticism gives him value. He definitely needs to be in the rotation. Not sure regarding all the love for Steffe. Yes, he gave effort, but got beat on defense several times and certainly hasn't found his stroke yet. He along with Mayo are getting all the minutes at backup PG though. However, it's night and day as to when Elliott is in the game running the point as opposed to Mayo and Steffe. Aligbe and Massey will share duties at the 5 with a little Moreno possibly sprinkled in. Aligbe will be learning all year and will take his lumps, but with his size and athleticism he needs his minutes at the 5. Moo, Elliott and Dibba will get the most minutes and be our 3 biggest scorers. If Davis continues to play this way he should be 1st team all MVC. He does everything well. His defense yesterday was stellar. He had 7 steals! Hopefully Mayo is more productive moving forward. We need more from him. It will be interesting to see if Sharp and Bey are redshirted as sophomores like Brad Korn was. I saw Nagy talking to both of them and seemingly coaching them toward the end of the game. I don't think there's any doubt Weber is redshirting.

I saw Tatum at the game again last night. Anyone listen to him? How does he do?

Mayo strikes me as a glue guy - doesn't make many mistakes, but doesn't do anything particularly well either. I think I'd like him better coming off the bench.

I do like Sykes. I think he's pressing a bit right now, most of them are, but he has a good nose for the ball and is relentless going after rebounds. He'll be a key contributor.

As others have mentioned, Elliot needs to average 35 minutes a game. He's a scoring point guard, and our only effecient option at the position.

Hensley has not been good so far. He's getting minutes due to his ability to stretch the floor, which helps to open up driving lanes for all these athletes, but his defense and decision making needs to greatly improve, and in a hurry.

Coach Nagy may want to think about mixing different zone sets defensively in the half court. We have plenty of length and quickness, similar to the old Jim Boeheim/Syracuse prototypes, but we have a glaring weakness at the 5 that zone looks might help mitigate.

Nagy doesn't play zone, with the exception of a full court zone trap. We won't be playing any half court zone defense.

Didn't know that. Too bad. Could be effective in certain situations.
