It's not that the players are bad. In the right situations all of them could contribute. It's that we have too many 6'1" and 6'2" guys. They are put in no win situations because of having to match up with bigger players. If one more scholarship is all we will have they had better use it well.

Seems like Marcus is shooting worse now than he did his Freshman year.

Can you imagine what Mullins would do if he could recruit players as athletic and talented as Ford can?   Similarly, can you imagine what Ford could do if he could coach as well as Mullins?

Just curious, what in his first 3 years as a head coach has Mullins done that leads you to believe he’s a good coach?

Seriously.  They play hard.  That’s it.

Work in progress for sure. We need more talent and size.

Having a real threat inside does wonders for your team. We don't have that yet.

Well multiple people on this board still give Mullins credit for the Loyola success so I figured he must be a good coach.  😉 😆

So much the same age as Mullins. Went to school the same time as he did. He is a great defensive minded coach but tonight was truly the ultimate test. Yeah we beat the shit out of Valpo the other night. You If the toughness and quality of this team was that that he talked about after those close Loyola losses was legit then there is no excuse why we shouldn’t have handled this game tonight at home.

There is a lack of talent and offensive improvement on the personnel that reminds me way too much of Barry Hinson. This team is a mirror or Barry Hinson. I’m sorry Bryan, you were a great player, but you are better off on the assistant coach side of things.

I’m from the glory days of SIU basketball and I’m so tired of watching it continue down this same path.

Reis: Is this a surprise?  I mean the margin of defeat, not the loss.

Mullins: The loss is too.

well, he’s still confident but he sounds pissed.

And Lance is shooting worse than last year. Shot 42.9% tonight...I'll take that but 1 - 6 from 3.

Marcus shot 20%, 1 - 5 from 3. As a team, we shot 15% from 3.

We shot 36% to their 54%. Can't beat anyone that way.

Something that really annoys me... Is that NO ONE stays to attempt to get an offensive rebound.

I said it first! 😀

Got killed on the boards tonight. 38 - 23 We actually had more ORBs than they did.

Going 3-20 from the arc goes a long way in explaining that -15 on the boards. SIU missed a total of 37 shots tonight, nearly double Missouri State's 19 misses... so that's gonna end up being a big rebound advantage for your opponent when you shoot like that.

Very poor shooting, outrebounded by a large margin, and lost tons of 50/50 balls.  Gave up a couple offensive rebounds at key times early in 2nd half.  Add this to Mosley and Primm playing at another level, and we had no shot.  Very disappointing home loss.

Year 4 for Rich and Weber were turning points for the program.Year 4 for Lowery was  the beginning of the end for SIU dominance. Barry’s 4th year was his most successful (wins).

What will Mullins do in year 4?

Think teams are defending him better.  Also wonder how much his hip injury from earlier in the season is bothering him

Goro are you telling us that we need to make more shots? Because I’ll be honest, that sounds like a great idea 🤣 🤣

Even Reis is trying to ask tougher questions.  Asking about a 5-minute drought in the first and second half against basically everyone Southern plays.

That’s a tough question to ask, especially when you’re employed by SIU now.  But it needed to be asked (or just said publicly in general)

Btw, Salukis women’s team is getting me through this winter and I’m excited for you baseball and softball. Every sport at Southern is pretty solid EXCEPT men’s hoops. Go figure!

(I’m not counting women’s soccer yet. Not fair in my book)
