I keep coming back to SIU looking like it didn’t belong on the court against Drake with Domask. The gap between the top of the conference and where we’re at is wide.
It’s not changing next year with a bunch of freshman in a conference filled with returnees. I hope there’s some magic in a bag somewhere. Hopefully nobody transfers either.
This... everyone wants to act like it’s all gonna be good... no, it isn’t. Not anytime soon. This is a 10th place team this year, next and potentially the year after.
Jesus, dude. Some of the concerns are legit but you so overplay your hand.
@siudawgs let’s assume everyone in the conference comes back next year, what place we finishing? I see 10th. How does this team pass anyone?

I don’t think you can expect much from a new coach in their first couple of years. A coach needs to build their program. I think you can start to make major criticisms by year three or four.

1. Better health (down two starters, including the best player)
2. Help from incoming recruits that are signed
3. YES, more help is needed this spring, especially in the athleticism department
4. Offseason development from young guys like Filewich and Banks
5. Having fans back will add some juice
I think between Harvey and Verpl, SIU has hit the last 3 turnaround jumpers. LOL HA
@siudawgs he’s such a windbag has no clue on anything basketball. When people call him out on here I’m pretty sure he goes straight to Twitter and says the same stuff. Anyone who doesn’t understand the issues with the team this year combined with the injuries and the talent of the incoming freshmen. They shouldn’t even watch flat out .
@daved734hes literally dogpoop 2.0 we should all ignore him.

Conversely, I would submit you’re on the Pollyanna side. 😀
Yeah, I think saying this team is gonna finish 10th the next two years is a stretch. This team will get a boost next year. I just don’t know how long it will be til they’re back in the top half. We’ll see. Hoping for the best.
Bow Em
Also, to lighten the mood a bit ... these refs truly suck. Calling nothing.
@siudawgs to be honest I just don’t think he understands how programs are built. Bradley didn’t have great players at first, Neither did Loyola. They had a few pieces and build around them. Anyone this upset about a first or second year in a full rebuild just doesn’t understand sports.
Gaige Prim has 23 points and 20 rebounds with 7:47 left

Soooo, not a good matchup for us?
@thunnellvision that’s kinda how complete rebuilds work. Look at Bradley took almost 5 years, other programs about the same length. You have to get too a position of upper classmen all together
Yeah, patience is required here. They're kids and will get better. That said, yeah, we could use more athleticism, but even with that, if you can't make layups, free throws, and hit wide open looks, doesn't matter how athletic you are.
March on triumphantly!
