Similarly, I would have liked someone with ties to the St. Louis area but am optimistic that this group will succeed early due to the Mullins factor. That being said, lets get some tread on those recruiting tires !!!!!!!
Bryan and his brother have been recruiting very hard for several weeks now.

We're fine. No one is going to outwork this staff.
Craving a McBride Special!
Bummer! No Thad Matta!
I imagine available money had a lot to do with the available coaches also. Few years down the road and we'll know if getting rid of Coach Babeque was a good idea!
I knew 4-years ago getting rid of BBQ Berruh was a GREAT idea.
Go Dawgs!
Yes, this coaching staff is young. But I believe these guys are intelligent, hard working, passionate and have already forgotten more about basketball than the last guy ever knew. They also seem to be team focused and know what it takes to win big games. The last guy was all about selling BBQ sauce. Great if you work for Kroger's, not so good if you're the head coach at a D1 men's basketball program.

What if you are a rep for 17th street ?

LOL.
No worries - his BBQ sauce was weak like the offensive schemes he employed.

Yea is there any proof of this offensive scheme thing ?
Interesting article on the contracts for the coaching staff: https://thesouthern.com/sports/college/salukimania/mullins-contract-more-money-for-assistants-than-hinson-and-potentially/article_6ffc1207-93a5-54e8-8373-612cabb39495.html
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
The following paragraph was the most interesting to me: "Under terms of his new deal, obtained by The Southern Illinoisan, Mullins and athletic director Jerry Kill would be required to meet and discuss an extension of one or more years after his second season if he has "comprehensive evaluations which show positive results of his yearly goals and objectives (as set forth by director)." Any extension would have to be approved by the SIU Board of Trustees."
Great incentive to get the program turned around quickly. Not the 4-5 years that BBQbarry said it would take. I think my man crush has grown to not only include Kill, but also Mullins.

This has been becoming more common in SIU contracts, since Lowery... (believe Tommy Bell pushed this Annual review process, which is good practice with any program that a good portion of the university Athletic department relies on for revenue)
Kill has said even Hill is not above this review.
I don't see why anyone would be above the review

There was a really wise guy here that implied that having goals and objectives for a coach with annual reviews was the way to avoid a PT and CLO in future. It's good to see the AD adopting that advice that the rest of the planet figured out years ago.

setting realistic and achievable goals key to any growth.
First year is setting a baseline, so talk about what worked and what didn't, plans for next year,
Second year is ok, what did we learn, what can we do better next year, where can we grow to.
I will bet Bryan Mullins will run the Rich Herrin MVC program, win your home games, and half your road games, seek championship crown in the valley.
