Seems like Trent Brown will be back and doesn't seem like there will be any other transfers. Also has high praise for AJ Ferguson.
Lost in all the current excitement has been AJ Ferguson. Folks really should not overlook this kid. He’ll be a big part of next years team, and that’s absolutely a good thing.

Haven't had time to listen, but if true, that is great news. Holding on to Rupert and Ebube is big.
Let's get an assistant and bring in a few scorers from the portal and I'll regain some optimism going forward.
ROCKIN' DAWG ALERT...........
you do not want to listen to this.
Great interview Mike; I’m so glad we have you as our voice of the Salukis
You are a treasure
After listening to the announcers from other teams, there is no comparison, you are a class act.
"We're going to compete for a championship next year."
blew the lid off the optimism meter!! LOL
I thought his positive comments about kids who rarely sniffed playing time were interesting to say the least.
Mullins sees them everyday so I am inclined to believe someone who sees them everyday and the improvements they make and to be ready to contribute in the future

I mean if it’s not obvious to everyone at this point, he’s going to be forced to try things a different way or he will be out of a job soon.
That’s just how it is going to be. His way has not worked. No delight in saying that, but it is a fact.
Supporter of the Fab 4: Scottie Ebube, Foster Wonders, AJ Ferguson & Cade Hornecker.
They’re the ones that can get us where we haven’t been in 15 years.

I agree. Love the optimism, but he isn't anywhere close to competing for a championship with the players we have coming back. It's going to depend on how these 5 open scholarships are used.

Also, I think it is usually true that college-age players really improve a lot year to year. (but that goes for other MVC teams as well - except Mo State which has an all-new roster every year 😀 - also sounds like Redturd St. and Bradley were decimated by transfers)
We're going to need an influx of talent to compete with UNI. If they keep all their players, they will be good.
Would you rather the coach say we are going to compete for a championship or say we are going to hope everything goes well and we might be middle of the pack and hopefully not in the cellar me I like optimism not pessimism

Neither. FYI, realism is NOT pessimism. If a coach isn't realistic, there is little chance he'll make the changes necessary to improve. Anybody with eyeballs knows unless we have an influx of serious talent, we are almost certainly not competing for a championship. Replacing Jones and Domask won't be easy. Hopefully the new coach will find us a few gems.
A diplomatic non-answer in this case might have been preferable.
In 2023’s landscape, any team in the country can go into an off-season and have realistic expectations of a conference championship due to the transfer portal. Rome wasn’t built in a day but St. Joseph’s roster will be.

The Missouri Valley is still very wide open right now. I don't think any team has separated themselves from the rest. I do like what Indiana State has done though but if SIU nails the portal, they could easily be right there among the contenders.
