Coach said what I have said, "I've got to have guys who WANT to be here".  Good luck but GOOD BYE to those who chose to leave.

I also found it..............'interesting" to hear him talk up some of the players who didn't earn playing time this past season.  I don't pay much attention to that though, as that is what coaches do.

I personally believe that SIU's best scorer next season is not yet on the roster (as of today).  I do, also, believe that with Howard coming in, that SIU has the potential to land some difference making players and give them a shot at making some noise in the Valley next year.

I'd love to see Howard bring in some difference makers. Would be great to be excited about Dawg ball again.

I don't agree that the MVC is wide open though. UNI has their whole team back, Indsu will be good, and Drake still has the Devries cult!

UNI should be better but they are bringing everyone back from a 9th place team.  They will be a good team but I don't think they are unbeatable by any stretch.  Indiana State loses a bunch and so does Drake.  Nothing is "wide open" there are still teams that look better on paper and the 3 mentioned certainly fit that, but I could still see a scenario where any of 9 teams win the valley next year.

They're bringing everyone back from an 8th place team that played mostly freshmen and sophomores. No team in the MVC is close to unbeatable.

UNI is a young team except for Born. Nate Heise (All-frosh. team 2 years ago) missed the whole year due to injury. Born and Duax were all-conference. Anderson averaged 8.5 rbs/game and 12 ppg. Lot of young talent. Not sure what they have for bigs, but Tytan Anderson at 6'6" led the MVC in rebounding.

I think Indsu lost McCauley and Neese. Picked up a couple of transfers.

I think Isaiah Swope is the biggest addition of the offseason so far in the MVC for Indiana State.  He's going to be perfect in Schertz's system and playing with Avila.

Missouri State's roster has uncharacteristically been one of the more stable in the league so far (other than losing Mogbo). They get Clay back as a COVID senior and their projected starting PG from last year, the St. Peter's transfer, should be back after tearing his ACL in November. I could see them being a sleeper contender or at least top-four team, especially if they can still add a decent piece or two.
