I really didn't care either way but I'm ok with it. Add UIC and call it a day.
This is indeed great news. Hopefully SIU-Murray will develop into a nice rivalry. It certainly makes sense from a geography perspective.
One thing I found kind of funny. I've read a lot of people hyping the Murray fanbase. I was surprised when I checked their last 3 home games, then, and saw attendance of 3630, 3791, and 3515. Not as impressive as I expected for a rabid fanbase of a program that has 3 championships and 2 NCAA appearances in the last 4 years.
Here are Southern's numbers, for reference: 4026, 3952, and 4030.
Southern would probably get at least 70% more than Murray's numbers if it had the same recent resume.
Come on man, didn’t you know this board has adopted Murray State? Don’t go spoiling this special time with facts! However, to quote Mark Twain, “facts are stubborn things”.
The advancement and diffusion of knowledge is the only guardian of true liberty.

It’s official now. Looks like they are pursuing membership in the MVFC as well. Maybe Western to the OVC and MSU replaces them?
From the article:
"Today is an exciting day for Murray State University, the athletics department and all 15 of our sports programs,” said Dean Hood, MSU Head Football Coach. “In addition to today's news regarding the Missouri Valley Conference, our administration is actively engaged in the membership process with the Missouri Valley Football Conference and we look forward to the journey ahead. Congratulations to Racer Nation on this important step for all our programs. Go Racers!”
"Given the MVC’s sports portfolio does not include football and rifle, Murray State has proactively pursued – in a collective and parallel track – league membership for football and rifle and are excited about the future. Upon unanimous support from the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) board of presidents – a separate stand-alone, football-only conference – Murray State and MVFC officials are actively engaged in the membership process, which officially began immediately upon receipt of the MVC invitation."
Dinner anyone?
It has been recently posted that Nick Hill doesn’t want them in the MVFC. Is there any truth to this?
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!

If the MVFC goes to divisions (likely North and South) with an addition of Murray State, I would think that would greatly benefit SIU football. The Dakotas would likely all be in the same division and SIU would avoid that and get some of the bottomfeeders in the MVFC including Murray State. I'm guessing this is one of the reasons the non-basketball MVFC schools would be against a Murray State addition.
Murray State joining the Valley. Fake news.
If Western Illinois leaves for the OVC, it will happen in all sports and Murray will fit in the slots football wise.
“The much rumored meeting of @MVCsports officials with @UIC_MBB this weekend appears to be happening. I am told Valley folks will be in Chicago for campus visit. League officials did not confirm nor deny.”

Why bother to look at their facilities? They couldn't possibly be as bad as Valpo's and they were still admitted.

Because 2 wrongs don't make a right...
I like Murray State and UIC as the two additions and hopefully hold there. All the others being considered would have seriously diluted the overall level of the league. With Belmont, Murray State, and hopefully UIC being able to up their overall level we still have a very competitive league. The future should be interesting.
