@kyle_saluki_17 Yeah, I agree with you on the crowd. When they announced that this was moved to Carbondale due to a Murray "power outage," I thought, "Hell, the power may be out here!" Its 4 inches of snow and 11 degrees outside - that will keep a lot of people away.
This is going to be a very interesting experience, it's the rarest of the rare that events align such that a sporting event (hockey, basketball, football, baseball) is played as an away game in your own home, but it does happen.
I'm curious to see all the technicalities of this - like, just how far is the MVC going to go to make this a home game for Murray State? Is Falat still going to be on the address? I would guess that one would be so, since SIU knows the ins and outs of their own press row and PA system. And did you know... that's former IHSA basketball official Mike Austin as Banterra Center scorekeeper. (By the way, players, slide your ass allllll the way over to half court to check in. Allllll the waaaay over! Mercy!) I digress....
I would assume they will tell Falat to shut up and can the enthusiasm - it will be odd hearing in a monotone voice, "And now the starting lineup for the Southern Illinois Salukis..." Maybe pump up video and momentum swing music/vibes won't be there either, but this is all just my guess.
All of SIU's sponsors get an extra game to advertise. As in, their names and logos in their usual spots, but I wonder if they will do all the media timeout promotions? On that one, I'm guessing SIU has some kind of deal worked out with those sponsors for this "extra game." On the other hand, it really screws Murray and their sponsorships - do they get a slice of the pie refunded back to them? just stuff I think about from a business standpoint in all this.
*in his David Puddy voice* YOU STINK, FERGUSON! WE'RE GONNA GET YOU, FERGUSON!!"
As I posted on the Itchy Jones thread, I do hope that there's at least a moment of silence for SIU's legendary baseball coach and maybe some sort of display honoring him on the video screens. If the Murray State people nix that, they're even more classless than many of us think.
There is next to no snow removal in the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky. Their fans will not show up. Book it.

We got more than 4" in Murph I'd say - more like 6 - 7". I drove through SIU last evening around 9pm. The stinky little diesel tractors were all over campus clearing the snow.
Roads were better than Jackson Co.
Remember Murray hates us. They will play their ass off. Hopefully they run out of gas and we play two Belmont 1st halves.

How many of their fans would show up in Carbondale, anyway?
First game I’ll miss in the arena for a while. Oh well. Going to watch on my phone and listen to Trude.
Really hope we see Mayo
Mayo is starting
let's hope Mayo is 100%

Game is being treated like a Murray home game. Their fight song is being played, Salukis wearing white, even Falat was announcing Murray players with more enthusiasm
8-0 run for the Racers and going to the line
I was hoping they would look tired, but it appears the Salukis had to shovel the snow on campus today.
Both teams are struggling on the offensive end. 16-13 Murray at the under 8 media timeout
