This thread should die, but just to clarify - the mvc (missouri valley conference) for basketball and the mvfc (missouri valley football conference) are separate. They have different leadership and different decision makers. Therefore, I think it is highly unlikely that Murray State Football would influence the MVC's decision on allowing or not allowing Murray State basketball to join the MVC. In fact, I highly doubt they would join both. Those would be completely separate actions.

Unless the OVC said it’s all or nothing. Murray is not going to leave football on an independent island all by itself

I believe this thread has run its course  because no matter what we think or want the conference to do our opinion doesn't matter because the conference will do what it thinks is best for its longevity and profitably and that is the bottom line as it always is money talks and bs walks

Good. Not really sure why a very relevant, consequential and interesting thread, with multiple legitimate perspectives to consider, would be locked, other than some people apparently let Murray get in their heads so much that they get super melodramatic …

You nailed it @jabman62

Also, can we not spend time telling fellow Saluki fans that SIU does not stack up to Murray State?  You are obviously entitled to your like or dislike of Murray State, but we don't need score updates or SoS updates and comparisons after every game in an SIU Men's Basketball Forum.

Start a Murray State thread in Off-Topic Sports if it means that much to you. Then re-read Jabman's post.

Matt Brown tweeted that UT-Arlington, Murray and the fighting Roos are presenting to the Valley this weekend, and apparently UIC already shared its materials.

Matt Brown is pretty reliable but he had the Racers in the MVC 3 months ago. The MVC football conference already said no thank you. I’m failing to see what is so hard to comprehend here

Exactly. What the H is this site for if not to discuss things relevant to SIU. Delete it because a few folks get their panties in a wad because some think MSU would be a good add to the MVC? Ridiculous. That's the kind of censorship that will turn off posters.

Not censorship tired of endless dribble and speculation the posters on this thread have opinions no facts talk to me when we have concrete news

He didn't nail squat IMO.. He's the same guy who thinks discussion of the football program should be limited to "bluebirds on my shoulder" comments rather than reality.

It was relevant to post a few facts about MSU when posters start making statements that are completely untrue bs. We gonna close a thread every time X doesn’t like what Y said? Speculation or opinions or disagreement not allowed? What kind of chat group is that!

When saluki-insider first started it was dying for discussion that would create interest and more participants. Do we want to go back to that?

I wish we were more in a school like St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN than UMKC and Nebraska-Omaha.  Yeah it would be a huge risk but I think there's a good chance it can pay off.  They'd be the #1 option in a big city and the #2 team in the state and #1 mid-major option.  Also wish there was more discussion about Milwaukee and Northern Kentucky over the current options too.  My personal choice is sticking at 10 over adding UT Arlington, UIC, and Nebraska Omaha/UMKC.

I am not a bluebird on the shoulder person I have been critical when warranted it is just as I get older I see no reason to call out 18 to 22 year olds who are giving their best effort to be successful by name we all know who they are we all know the problems as we see them to put a point on it U-TUBE OK ST head coach Mike Gundy I am a man speech during a press conference a few years back

Murray to the Valley should be a no-brainer.  They are the best basketball program available in the region, and they will only add to the quality of programs across the conference.  If you want the Valley to get back to a regular multi-bid league, then you need as many quality programs as possible.

It also doesn't hurt to have a recent NBA superstar repping your brand, either.
