For what it is worth, I just returned from a Bucks game in Milwaukee which was played next door to Panther Arena (UWM) From the outside Panther Arena looked like a very fine and modern facility.

There may be some dividends playing next door to an NBA facility.  Also the Milwaukee Civic Center (a very large facility) is on the other side of Panther Arena with PA being between the CC and Fiserv Forum (Bucks home court) in downtown Milwaukee.  There seems to be a lot going on downtown Milwaukee.

I like the idea of adding Milwaukee. I don't know why they haven't been talked about more. If the MVC were to go to 14, they would be my must-have inclusion (after UIC and Murray).

Is MSU really substandard academically? That’s a new one to me. I was always under the impression it was more difficult to get into Murray than SIU. Now maybe that has changed recently. If it has, fill me in here.

SIU took me.  so I have always assumed it was extremely hard to get into.  not as hard as angie perwinkle, but hard.

“Murray State University admissions is selective with an acceptance rate of 77%. Half the applicants admitted to Murray State University have an SAT score between 1020 and 1240 or an ACT score of 21 and 27.“

Southern Illinois University--Carbondale admissions is selective with an acceptance rate of 92%. Half the applicants admitted to Southern Illinois University--Carbondale have an SAT score between 970 and 1345 or an ACT score of 20 and 26.”

That’s not much of a difference. Frankly the larger acceptance rate can come down to SIU being a larger school than Murray. There is a pretty significant difference between the two schools, but SIU does a poor job of telling that story. SIU is way more productive on research and doctoral level programs. Problem is most people regionally don’t appreciate that.  In the past I wouldn’t list the SAT scores but Illinois uses the SAT for college testing now and not the ACT.

Not censorship tired of endless dribble and speculation the posters on this thread have opinions no facts talk to me when we have concrete news

What is this chat group if not mostly opinions? I certainly don't like or agree with every opinion on here, but I'm not asking to shut it down because I'm tired of reading BleacherBum's rants. Don't read it, ignore it, refute it, whatever.

The future of the MVC is at stake. I think it's  important and/or interesting to see what other people are thinking.

others are thinking that they are tired of your hard on for redneck u.  you have very low standards. you have yet to refute anything he has said.  msu is substandard academically, athletically and financially to almost every school in this league.  believe it or not, this conference is about more than a single sport. and msu has nothing more than a handful of ncaa wins in that sport.  they offer close to nothing to this league.  almost all of their teams will finish 11th out of 10.  the mvc will survive without them.  msu isn't the future. it's ancient history.

"Murray State has competed in 17 NCAA Tournaments and 8 NITs. Most of that occurred since 1988, as MSU has made 21 postseason appearances since that time. Since 2010, the Racers have played in 5 NCAA Tournaments, two NITs and won a CIT title. In 2010, Murray was seeded 13th at the big dance and beat 4th seeded Vanderbilt before losing by 2 to eventual national runners up Butler. In 2012 a 6th seeded Murray made it to round two, and in 2019 a 12th seeded Racer squad beat 5th seeded Marquette before losing to Florida State. The list of recent Murray State head coaches includes Mick Cronin, Billy Kennedy and Steve Prohm. Their all-time record is 1,675-917. Famous alums include current NBA players Ja Morant and Cameron Payne. Those are just two of the nine guys who have been drafted to the NBA out of MSU. The team is extremely well-supported as well. Murray State fans traditionally take over the Ohio Valley Tournament and would likely bring a large contingent to Arch Madness in St. Louis. Their average attendance of 4,887 would have been third best among Valley schools in 2019-20."

There's some facts for you. They have a better NCAA record than any MVC team not named Loyola or Belmont - and far more appearances than Loyola. Would be a great addition to this basketball dominant league. BOING! OOPS my zipper just broke! LOL

The number of games played in the NCAA is the wrong metric to focus upon. The percentage of wins is much more indicative of the strength of the program. They actually have a worse NCAA record than most of the MVC teams based upon winning percentage. In fact, if you look at teams that have been to the Dance 10 or more times, they have one of the worst records, based on winning percentage, in D1 basketball. Their winning percentage is 1/2 that of SIU. The reason they have been to the NCAA 17 times is..... they play in the OVC! It is foolish to extrapolate those numbers and presume they will perform the same in the MVC. And, might those attendance numbers be influenced by Ja Morant playing his final season there?

The advancement and diffusion of knowledge is the only guardian of true liberty.

Barkeep I get that, and I have heard the same. But, why in the world would they be allowed to present this past weekend if it was already a foregone conclusion that they were not getting in?

Despite being in the OVC, they've had Isaiah Caanan, Cameron Payne, and Ja Morant drafted in the last 10 years and they've made the tournament 7 times since 2000 including 4 times since 2010.  They've also won 3 Tournament games in that 12 year span.

There are rumors that the Ohio Valley might fold football and combine with the Southland.  Murray State could still have D1 scholarship football and join the MVC.  Not completely the same thing but Drake & Valpo have D1 football in the Pioneer League, granted non-scholarship.

ancient history to quote you.  you are a one sport broken record. they fail on DEI issues alone. massively. academics second. every other facility except basketball third.

does anyone actually have a solid public reference that they were even invited to present?  I don't know one way or another.  how do you know that they did present anything other than rumor? there has been close to no media coverage.  just curious.

Watch the D1 360 presentation. It makes it pretty clear IMO what two schools should be next here.
