Loyola (returning all key players plus adding a few promising pieces) and UNI (strong returning core of Green, Phyfe and Berhow) will get a lot of love leading into next season, but Bradley expects to be as good or better next year, too.

Obviously spring recruiting/transfers out, etc., will factor in heavily, but the point is SIU has substantial work to do to compete with some of these programs if the Salukis are going to become a postseason contender. If things break right, maybe, just maybe, 2020-21 is the season the MVC returns to being a multi-bid league.
Realize it's way early, but the more topics the better to get us through the doldrums ...
Wardle has three 6' 9" freshmen coming in. How does he do it? Phyfe is back for two more years!
If we don't get some bigs, we'll get eaten alive in the MVC. Not sure why we're offering 6' 5" guys at this point!

I think Mullins knows he needs a couple quality bigs...my guess is there are going to be some transfers so he’s got more scholarships than we know about.

He must. I listened to his interview with Mike Reis and he said that was a priority!

3 6'9" guys coming in and SIU hasn't signed anyone over 6'5" with a roster depleted of any low post presence. I trust Mullins will get this corrected, but if for some reason this doesn't happen SIU is in serious trouble next season.
Worry Warts on here. 😄

I know things are looking up, but can you blame us? 😬
With the previous coach, I wouldn’t blame anyone and probably join the parade. There’s a new sheriff in town, I expect needs to be met.🏀
At the end of the year , after we had the win streak, teams figured out how to guard Marcus. We didn’t have a consistent low post threat , and teams were beating us because they had more talent.
Now we sit with 5 open roster spots and potentially more opening , with one maybe being Cook.
We need at least two big guys and from what I have seen anyways the guys we are in on don’t have real impressive stats ...
at this point in time I’m having a hard time seeing us not taking a step back in year two with what the other teams have coming back.

Forget about Harvey ? Bryan will get his bigs and SIU will be fine
@barkeep-1967 I did not forget about Harvey. Here is my rationale :
Yes, Lance Jones looked like a star in the making that could get to the hoop at will the last few weeks of the season.
Domask was a star for the first 3/4 of the season.
However, when you are having to fill 5 maybe more positions with guys that you are going to count on to play a significant role, how do you get any continuity.
If we are bringing in Freshman and Jucos, which I would imagine will be a majority of what we bring in , those guys always seem to take some time to get acclimated to D1. At the Mid Major level , you don't get too many Marcus Domasks who come in ready to play from day 1.
Next year Marcus is gonna be the guy and people are going to zero in on him. This year towards the end of the year when people were focusing on him, he struggled. He will get better no doubt. I think it is safe to say the teams at the top will also be better.
As for Ben Harvey, do we really know what we have with him at this point in time??? Yes he did put up some good looking numbers as a freshman. However, once you get outside of Murray and Belmont, the Ovc is ...well the OVC. So the numbers he put up were on a bad team in a bad league. Which brings me to a comparison. Years ago I had some friends singing the praises of a new semo recruit, claiming he was going to be better than Kent Williams. Granted, Derreck Winans did have a nice career at Semo but he put up good numbers on bad teams. When faced with a more athletic player guarding him, he was a nonfactor.
Obviously losing Francois and Davis doesn't break us, but those are two I was expecting to make a big jump, especially Davis if he could have had a healthy offseason. That ship has sailed now.
Hoping AC stays , he would give you a legit POY candidate and take the pressure off everyone. Heres to hoping the staff can get good players to help us move back to where we need to be.

This is a good post that raises some fair concerns. Obviously there is a lot to still play out on the roster front in the coming weeks, but I very much agree that they need to add additional quality weapons and not take for granted that Domask and Jones will continue to ascend as sophomores (although hopefully they do!) and just carry the load.
There is also truth to certain players being able to do well against a certain caliber of opposition and then struggling against more athletic/higher-caliber teams. There were several of those players during the Hinson era. If Southern is going to get back to being a powerhouse, they need players with the skill sets (and bodies) to play up against top-100 type opponents.

...where did this post come from?!
Paragraph after paragraph of informed opinion, reasonable statements...and wisdom!
(Bravo!)
(1) US COVID-19 statistics (February 29, 2020-June 16, 2020): 2,124,000 reported cases and 115,052 deaths
(2) Donald Trump (June 15, 2020) told a group of senior citizens that there would be very few cases of COVID-19 if the US stopped its testing and contact tracing: "If we stop testing right now, we'd have very few cases, actually."
(3) Donald Trump [(Jan 20, 2020), when asked if he's worried about a pandemic]: “No. Not at all. And we have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It’s — going to be just fine.”
Yeah, AC staying would be huge. Going into next season with a polished, skilled true point guard, Jones would be even more dangerous. Heck of a back court duo they'd be.
On Harvey, I've heard the kid was killing it in practice. If he can live up to the billing, it'll really help free up Domask in a similar type of way. Those four players together could be a tough guard for any team.

I hope you're correct. SIU's success next season, hinges on Mullins getting a couple of quality low post guys.
