If Domask is playing the 4 spot, I think SIU is in trouble. That's not his natural position and he struggled in the post last season. Mullins still needs to bring in a 4 and probably another 4 or 5.
I think we get to caught up with numbering the possitions 4,5,3 etc this day in age in bball.
I think SIU needs another player with some length and athleticism.
We don't have to put labels or numbers on these guys, but Domask shouldn't be relied on to play in the low post. Let him play to his strengths and get the "right" guys in there to rebound and score with their back to the basket.
Again I have been told directly by a very very reliable person. Harvey was one of if not the best player on the floor in practice last year. He will start
Well BK, I know you're not talking about me (bc you said reliable-lol), but you know I have been on this guy since Day 1. He has so many facets to his game and they had already seemed to be polished as a freshmen at Eastern. I know there will be some competition, but I see him being the best player on the team next season.
As far as who starts, I think we would agree it will be Jones, Domask, Harvey and now Muila will be starting. As far as the 5th, who knows. If Banks can prove himself quickly, he certainly may start but my $$ is on a player who has not yet committed at this time.
I hope Harvey has a helluva year, but you're going out on quite the limb there with saying he'll be Southern's best player. Statistically, Domask's freshman year was well ahead of Harvey's, and Domask also was playing in a better conference against better competition. Marcus also has the work ethic to keep making strides in his game. And as an aside, the Lance Jones of the last month of the season played at a very high level in his own right.
Regardless of the pecking order, hopefully that trio has the chance to give Southern some reliable offensive punch, and then some of these other guys can chip in and provide the depth that was lacking last year. And we'll see who else comes aboard.
Regardless, isn't this exciting for a change? Who gives a f+++ which is the better player. They are all 3 very good players. Me likey!!!
I personally think Jones has emerged as the go to guy. But it doesnt matter. Good to have three incredible players and maybe more to come. Good to have a great coaching staff as well. Great days ahead.
Formerly known as 81Dog
Louth Coulibaly is my guess. Kid has a 4.0 GPA, 1080 SAT.... oh yeah and for those who care about stats, averaged 13.8pts and 11.4rbs and 1.1 blks per game. His senior highlights is due out tonight. Looking forward to watching either way.
I am not an expert evaluator and I am aware recruiting clips can be deceptive "but!" from what i just watched, this freshman would be great fit for our program. I believe he could play good minutes immediately and may develop into a Falker sort of player. He does not look like a red shirt candidate to me. Lets sign this guy Coach and I will have another flask of Koolade.

Last 5-6 games, Jones was easily the best player on the team..and the only guy to have boundless energy! What a motor. We'll see a lot more good things from him in the future!
If Harvey's that good, we're going to be very tough to stop!
As I have mentioned in numerous posts, I was very impressed with Jones improvement, especially at the end of the season when it seemed most others ran out of gas. I continue to have high expectations for him, as well as Domask. I just think that highly of Harvey. Either way, if we can get another quality, experienced, big and an experienced point guard, I think this team has the chance to do better than last season.

If we land Makoui or Coulibaly (I think we will), D'Avanzo and an experienced guard/PG, possibly via grad-transfer, SIU will win 20+ games and challenge for an MVC regular season title in 20-21, barring injury or the end of the world.
--Insert something witty here--
Well we didn't get Coulibaly or Makoui but we did land a promising freshman big in Filewich, grad D'Avanzo and juco Muila to go with our promising freshman guards. I would still love to see a talented swing man or another Big come our way. I always think Mullins has something up his sleeve we don't know about. Go get em coach as I truly like the way this team is shaping up.
