Who does everyone think will win it? I hope they don’t just go with whomever wins the Valley.

Think it should be Sheppard right now. I'd also give a vote to Leons over Mast for Bradley.
I think they should go with whomever wins the Valley. That would make the most sense unless somebody else is heads and shoulders better, and I don't see that among these candidates.
If UNI were to finish top 4 I think Born needs serious consideration (same for COY with Jacobson), but they will likely be outside the top 4 so I think it boils down to what has already been said in whomever wins the Valley will get the nod.
The MVP can be such an interesting dichotomy. This year, I feel like Domask has somewhat separated himself as the best player on the team, but in my opinion, the KEY player on this roster is actually Lance Jones. If/when his shot is ON, this team is incredibly hard to beat. I honestly don't care who wins the award as long as SIU comes away with the MVC crown.
If the vote were taken today, it's probably Sheppard. Domask is a lock to be first-team, but to win POY, I think he'll have to lead SIU to the regular season title, maybe outright, depending on who else is up there. And, it would help his cause to perform well in the bigger games, especially getting a little payback on Bradley after he struggled in the road game at BU.
It'll be interesting to see whether Sheppard uses his COVID year, and if so whether he does so at Belmont (obviously a similar question holds true for Marcus). Sheppard probably is the best NBA prospect in the league ... curious how the pro scouts view him.

I know absolutely nothing, just ask my wife, but I'd be shocked if Domask went elsewhere next season. SIU is absolutely primed to be a Top 2 preseason Valley team next year and make the NCAA tournament. Perhaps that's just me hoping. : )
I wouldn’t be shocked to see Sheppard go to the NBA. Don’t know if he’s being mocked anywhere right now but they’ve had NBA scouts at games and he has an NBA body. I could see him at least going G League.

Domask has been a loyal, outstanding Saluki, and it's evident he and his family have a great relationship with Mullins. I agree with you that if he returns and with a portal addition or two, SIU is well-positioned to contend for the NCAAs next year, with a very attractive home schedule to boot.
That said, no Saluki fans should take that decision for granted (and I'm not saying you are). Not only will he have power conference options, closer to his home, but starting a pro career somewhere also would be a viable and understandable option for him after four years of college.
I'm sure these kinds of questions will start bubbling up publicly as we get closer to senior night ... it's the elephant in the room as the season nears the finish line.
@siudawgs let’s hope Domask has a girlfriend at SIU. And hopefully she’s a sophomore or something. 😉
I could see him transferring to a Big Ten school or somewhere that is likely to be a tournament team.

I think DeVries wins this. Unless the beat writers go with the best player period, which is Ben Sheppard, IMO.
