It's tough to get excited about wins such as this.   Norfolk State is a team that lost to a Division II team by 10 points recently.   I'm not saying that I'm not optimistic about the future of Saluki basketball, but some of you people need to be a little more realistic.   This win meant nothing, proves nothing, and was a foregone conclusion before the game was played.   John A Logan could have beat this team.   Maybe we'll be good in the years to come but quit talking like this team is a dynasty until they do something to prove it on the court (and there really is no chance to do it this year as our schedule is filled with garbage).

I think they’re playing one of the toughest non-con schedules in the conference by KenPom.  Delaware, San Fran, Murray State, Oakland, Saint Louis are all good teams this year and then you add in Mizzou who, while down, is still an SEC team.

I think people here were too high on this team coming into the season and think they’ll finish 10th in the MVC but there has to be some excitement for the future when your best player right now is a true Freshman and you have other Freshmen making major contributions.  I’m enjoying watching them play more than I have in awhile.

So if the outcome of the game was a “foregone” conclusion”, why was the spread only 6.5 points? Riddle me that MSN.

Well, scheduling you just never know.  I remember Nov. 12, 2011, when Lowery scheduled Division ll Ohio Dominican into the Arena and managed to lose  to that d-2 team that finished 4-22.  I think our schedule is a good one considering we are in the first year of a rebuild with a new coach and 10 new players.  If someone thinks it is a garbage schedule maybe they got other issues.   Personally I have no illusions  that this team is the beginning of a dynasty.  I don't believe I have heard or read anyone insinuate that.  What I am enjoying is the effort and improvement I am seeing.  I am enjoying the excitement in the Arena that has been missing so long and I am glad Coach Mullins is on our team again.

If you can't get excited about what you saw on the court from the freshmen, you should check your pulse.

We beat Norfuk St worse than Olde Miss, Bradley, or Northwestern did.  We play like that, nobody will want to play us at home. I doubt we'll finish 10th. Our strength of schedule is 192 out of 353 D1 schools. Perfect for this team I think.

Exactly right.

But don't waste your breath. This is, after all, the troll who pretends to think it was a huge mistake to fire Lowery, a joke that was shopworn at the time of Lowery's firing.

And if it's not a joke, well, what more is there to say about this guy?

Yes, it's good to not get too high after a win like this (or too low after a loss), but no one was predicting a tourney bid, ffs.

(Inflammatory political snark)

You know he just likes to get people stirred up. He always has and that's the only reason he's on here.

I'm happy about what I saw:  a bunch of guys who have been good, even great players at a lower level, who are each great shooters, are by their own admission just starting to figure out just where on the court and just how they each like to receive the ball to step into a 3 pt shot.  I'm starting to think we won't be tenth.

One observer noted that SIU was the most prepared team SLU had seen this season. With each possession, the entire bench and coaching staff were engaged and shouting encouragement and instructions. SLU coach Travis Ford was impressed.

I like the site, good info and honest news.

I grazed through a few of their other stories to see what spin they had, did not see much outside of good reporting.
