I have an absolute man-crush on this team. That it's basically an entirely new roster, new coaching staff etc. and they're already progressing like they are with so much youth is really something to see. Even in each of their losses, they've been ultra competitive and haven't gotten the doors blown off one time.

As together as this team is; they seem to genuinely love the game and each other, there's no way they are finishing 10th in this league, IMO. In fact, barring key injuries, I think this team has a solid chance to finish outside of the bottom four spots. They are improving with each game, and very soon they'll break through and start beating some teams outside the bottom 3rd of D1.

I'm very much enjoying the start of the Mullins era as well and am mostly pleased with what we've seen to date from the young players, as well, with the caveat that I was hoping Dembele would show more promise since quality bigs are sorely needed not only for this season but in the next few years as well. Maybe he'll come on as the season goes along, but if not, they need a minimum of 2-3 quality bigs added to next year's roster if they are going to take a big step forward.

As for this year, I do still expect a bottom-four MVC finish because it's hard to expect freshmen to play at a consistently high level throughout a conference season, the team struggles to score against non-MEAC competition and rebounding woes/size deficits will be an issue throughout the year.

Still will be fun to see the guys progress, though, and I'd love to be wrong about how the year shakes out from a wins and losses standpoint.
