Is anyone familiar with turf toe?

Is that the type of injury that wouldn’t heal during the season even if Jones sat for a couple weeks?

I've had turf toe before, it's not fun. It takes forever to go away. Even if you can stay off of it. Back when I had it my doctor wanted me on crutches for a couple of weeks. (That was a few decades ago.)

SIU down just 4 and shooting FT's with 7:09 left.  Defense & offense much better this half

Thanks Rabid. I was sort of thinking that might be the scenario.

He is looking a bit better tonight. But he hasn’t looked himself in so long.

It’s too bad because he’s really a spark plug for team and can carry the load on O, which we’ve seen early in the season

Offense goes dead again and Northern Iowa might have enough to win this

UNi is just better than SIU.  Effort is there, but this team is really no better than the Barry teams.

Yeah 1 was so fun, hasn't been fun since then.  They have the Colorado win, which they don't get under B****y but their 2nd and 3rd best wins this year by KenPom are Valpo and Evansville.  They beat the bad teams and lose to the good teams.

Good second half, too bad we didn't show up to play from the beginning. Can't win many games only playing one half. Need to show up to play from the start.

Free throw shooting killing SIU again

Completely puzzled by this, we make our free throws, we win. It's like no one gives a damn about it. Just don't get it. But it's been that way for a while. Yes, there are many other reasons we lost but WTF, make your FT's!

March on triumphantly!

It’s tough to win when you only have two real scoring options. It’s also tough to win when you get nothing offensively from your ‘bigs’ (who aren’t even that big).

I did not think we’d be in this place 18 months ago. The Valley top to bottom is filled with bigger/more athletic players across the board. This coach hasn’t gotten a game-changing player yet. I’ll believe Mr. Texas when I see him. I’m just really disappointed. It’s clear nothing is changing.

And, yes, I think the convo would be different if Lance Jones were healthy. Just stinks.

SIU's 3 best wins this year by KenPom are #90 Colorado, #205 Valpo, #261 Alcorn State.  Their 8 D1 wins have an average of 259 in KenPom.

The 7 D1 losses come with an average of 132.57 on KenPom (before Northern Iowa gets bumped up for their win).

I know this year is tough with 5th year Seniors coming back but things likely won't be better next year when Murray and Belmont come in with good, young talent.  This team seems to be stuck in neutral, just like they were under B****y and I don't think they're close to competing for Valley championships.

In our statistics/analytics driven world I have an idea for a new statistical category....

Lane violations created.

JD Muila would be the national leader.

And Lance Jones would lead the league with most minutes lying on the floor. Not a knock on Jones. He just plays hard and makes a lot of kamikaze drives to the basket. That being said, that was one heckuva heave he made on that full court made three.
