Northern Iowa keeps hanging around.Ā Really want to see Lance Jones take over down the stretch.Ā
SIU can't blow this one with Phyfe sitting on the bench.Ā This would be a brutal loss
I feel like I say this in more than half the games, but I really can't get over how many layups this team misses.Ā Of course some of them are contested but it's mind numbing.Ā Ā If N. Iowa was hitting their FT's, they'd be up in this game.Ā Ā

Jones with 22.Ā Really need him to take over down the stretch.Ā Offense looks really stagnant.
This is going to be a really long 4 minutes.Ā

(Inflammatory political snark)
This 2nd half is brutal.Ā Gotta come away with a win
If this game were earlier in the season, I would be sick to my stomach right now.Ā Considering it really doesn't matter if they win or lose, I can enjoy the game without the anxiety.Ā Ā

Final
Jones leading scorer with 27.Ā D'Avanzo with a 11 point/10 rebound double double
Jones was obviously the star. But the contributions from Filewich, Verplancken, and D'Avanzo can't be overlooked
Dawgs win today. Book it.Ā

Great win. Huge developmental game for Verplancken. Ben Harvey is having some problems; Iām hoping Banks can take more of his minutes. Lance took over to help us without Marcus. These wins count and this season matters. Good to see the gritty win.

I look for Harvey's minutes to be dwindling for the remainder of the season. Just not producing like he was against the pre-Valley games.
Phyfe was on the bench but really good to see SIU winning the rebounding battle.Ā Need to figure out what's going on with Harvey.Ā 0 points and 0-7 shooting.
We were 11/22 in the 2nd half, incl. 8/14 from 3. 😮Ā
