Even when Marcus comes back, this is Lance Jone's team. This guy is going to be special for us.
Not trying to be negative at all here, and Jones certainly had a great game. He definitely has the tools....but, the day before he was not at all good and cost the team. I don't believe this is his team, though it probably should be. I think it can be....but his inconsistency has and is a problem. His driving to the hole and not finishing and making bad choices in the lane is a problem. Yesterday he was great. If he can keep that up then the skys the limit...Just think its way to early to say this is " his team".
Lance didn't hurt us yesterday as much as Ben Harvey or Trent Brown. Fact is, he played only 19 minutes, and that's a coaching mistake in my book - when no Domask is on the floor, Jones is our best player. Another 15 minutes and that stat would improve most likely. To leave him out at the end when we were a few shots away just did not make sense.
Check out the +- efficiency stat.
Jones -11 19 min. (7 pts on 3 - 8 shooting, 3 TOs)
Harvey -14 24 mins (11 pts on 2 - 8, 1 TO)
Brown -15 36.5 mins (5 pts on 2 - 9, 2 TOs)
the only players with a non-negative efficiency:
Dembele 0 8 mins
Butler 1 7 mins
Don't forget, Jones is only a sophomore. He leads the team in steals, assists, and points scored, 2nd in ppg. At this point, his stats are as good or better than Jamaal Tatum's and Darren Brook's were their soph. year.
I think he's a got a really good game for a soph. I'm absolutely OK with his game other than too many TOs.

I think the problem with Jones on Saturday was he got 2 fouls pretty quickly and Mullins has shown extreme caution at throwing players out there in the first half when they have 2 fouls. I wish he would have a little bit more trust in the guys to not commit that 3rd foul.
But either way, Jones playing 19 minutes on Saturday ended up being a benefit because it allowed him to be fresh for Sunday and he played the full 40 minutes.

But he also never got back in those last few minutes when it felt like the game was still in reach. A few more minutes of play wasn't going to exhaust him - seems to have quite a motor.
