Ferguson has a micro fracture in his foot. Initial X rays didn't show. Later MRI did. Hoping to have him back for Wichita, but that would be optimistic.Speaking of Ferguson, anyone know what his status is? Nothing is broken right?
BTW, Sheridan Sharpe is back and medically cleared. He has not been put in a game since cleared, so it may be a redshirt situation. If he doesn't play against Austin Peay you can probably count on a redshirt.

You sure it's a "micro-fracture"? That's a really bad injury that would likely put him out for the year. I think it ruined Greg Oden's career. Ferguson was in a boot during warm-ups.
I did mention earlier that Sharp was going through warm-ups and was dressed. He should not be redshirting if Ferguson is out for an extended period.
By the way, if anybody is listening to Luke Martin and Watson online and syncing it up the way I do, I have to say I am really liking Luke Martin. He does a good job and gets genuinely excited when something good happens for the Dawgs. Love it!
(On the other hand, RW's steady stream of over-praise for our opponents could certainly be toned down a bit in my opinion. "I really love the way Oklahoma State's playing defense....blah blah")

Unless Miller makes significant strides in the coming weeks, I'd also be in the camp of playing Sharp if the coaches think he would be a better backup PG option than Miller. Last night was an example of how SIU is playing with fire with the PG depth situation, and it won't be the last time this year something comes up calling for solid minutes from another ball-handler (not to mention not wearing X down in general).
Three of the next four games (excluding the game in Wichita) seem like prime opportunities to get Sharp some game experience if they plan to play him this year.

Has Mullins not been asked about Ferguson's outlook publicly yet? If not, that should happen: he's a starter who scored 20 points in a game this year; it would be nice to know what the timetable looks like.
I'm already on record in this thread saying the D'Amico technical was a horrendous call, and it absolutely could have changed the outcome at that late stage of the game. It was brutal.
To play devil's advocate, though, I also thought the tech on the Oklahoma State player in the first half was a weak call, and it probably falls in the same bucket of being way oversensitive about "taunting," when neither instance really struck me as remotely tech-worthy. So, I guess you could say it was consistent, although obviously the D'Amico call seemed like way higher stakes given the timing.
I think we have a big enough sample size to reasonably declare SIU a top 3 team in the Valley: Indiana State and Drake are still ahead, but Bradley wasn't blowing teams out with Hickman and Missouri State seems more in the 4-6 range.

until we prove we can win a road game that declaration might be premature
If anyone recorded the game, watch the first basket by OK State and tell me why a taunting call wasn't assessed on Williams.I'm already on record in this thread saying the D'Amico technical was a horrendous call, and it absolutely could have changed the outcome at that late stage of the game. I was thinking about that this morning, I believe coaches want to keep the opposition guessing in their game prep.Ferguson has a micro fracture in his foot. Initial X rays didn't show. Later MRI did. Great win! I still can't believe the technical on D'Amico.

There will be plenty of competition for the top four MVC spots (and a Thursday bye in St. Louis), including Bradley, which will regroup and get Hickman back. The league is unusually deep and there will be a lot of close games.
You could probably say SIU has now had one of the three most impressive starts around the league to date, but there is a long way to go and plenty of challenges to contend with around the league.
Still in a state of decompression from last night. Yes, great game for sure and still can't believe we won after the screw job by the worst refs I've ever seen.
Love the attitude and grit the Salukis are playing with. Only wish they could all get healthy at once, is that too much to ask?
March on triumphantly!
I was told by a 100% reliable source, however he must have confused micro fracture with hairline. The way he described it he indicated it was a very tiny break, undetectable on an x ray. He used the word micro fracture, but I think he was trying to describe a very tiny fracture in his foot. He was sincere in his hope he would be back by Wichita, so it's definitely not season ending.Ferguson has a micro fracture in his foot. Initial X rays didn't show. Later MRI did. I was syncing the audio of Luke Martin and Rodney Watson with the CBS TV feed and when the first T was called, Watson said that taunting is a point of emphasis this season with the refs and it is basically a zero tolerance kind of thing so I don't think the call against D'Amico was gravely injust. You may make the argument that the OSU player said something while TD was just chest thumping, but if you are unbiased, I think the argument can be made that TD's action is a form of taunting...the keyword being unbiased here. SO let me have it.I'm already on record in this thread saying the D'Amico technical was a horrendous call, and it absolutely could have changed the outcome at that late stage of the game.
