@austinsaluki forgive me for my misuse of a conjunction, Professor Austin Saluki. In 30 years of your profession, you never learned that players do in fact develop in practice.
Unless we are discussing Muila free throws that is.
No worries.
Players develop better in game situations, btw.
A month into the practice season, they know their opponents' every move. That is not nearly as helpful as being in games.
I was never a full professor, btw--not even close--but I do know a thing or two about the English language. Just drop it.
Let's talk about the OK State game. I hope to go to it, and I hope we win it.

Just to be clear, these are only my opinions. : )
Players DO develop in games. As an example, it is difficult to mimic the intensity and pressure of a late game scenario in practice.
That being said, players most absolutely positively develop in practice, scrimmages, etc. While there are literally countless examples, I will use 2 on this years team. XJ was a good player last year and while the circumstances this year surely helped, they cannot be solely pointed at as the reason. Both the stats AND the eye test shows that he is head and shoulders above last year and was prior to playing a single game this season. He did this over the summer. Another example is AJ Ferguson. He rarely played last year. Mullins specifically noted that he decided last year to put in the time and effort in the off season to take his game to the next level and the results (prior to the injury) suggest that his offseason workouts paid huge dividends.
Allow me one additional example. When Mullins was a freshmen, he was NOT a good 3pt shooter. He did not improve throughout the season in game play. He did, however, make significant improvements each off season.
I hope our dawgs play better than @austinsaluki ’s take on player development.
otherwise we might as well lay down accept this loss and throw 30 minutes to cross for player development. 😉
I predict dawgs by 7. Attendance 5,750

I'll take the under.................. now the obvious question is, on the points or the attendance ??? 🤣
Yeah, because player development doesn't happen in games, right? All about the practice time!

You have two grammar/punctuation errors in this post. Just FYI . . .

@austinsaluki you must be fun at parties.
I love the heart though. You are truly defending your opinion like a member of the floor burn u defense. Heck I’d buy you a beer at the game. Probably a generic BEER from the 70s or perhaps a Busch NA in part to your sour attitude but a beer nonetheless!
Can someone proofread this before the Professor red marks my reply? 😉
Let's maybe just get back to the OK St. game. You're getting sillier by the minute.
I think this game is going to show a lot about what is going on with this team.

Back-to-back home wins over SLU and Oklahoma State, even with both teams being down compared to what you’d expect, would be a big deal for Mullins and the program. It would be another very promising sign that this team is much better than most expected.
Oklahoma State is young, ragged and prone to lapses but also has plenty of athleticism and size. Southern has to take care of the ball and give great effort on the glass. Do those things and there will be an opportunity to win, even if they only shoot half as well from 3 as they did against SLU.
Also, time for the Dawg Pound to back up its talk about being one of the best student sections. Need to quadruple the student turnout from the SLU game and make it a big-time atmosphere.

I count three (four, if you believe in the Oxford comma). 😉
@austinsaluki students are on campus. Expect a decent turnout. The student ran barstool social media page/dawgpound are promoting a maroon out. Free cookies and pizza. Hoping it’s packed
Hoping for a good crowd and hoping to be there myself!
