Our path to the NCAAT is UNI, Drake/ILL ST and then who knows in the championship... We can probably assume Loyola or Bradley but who knows...
How do we feel about our chances? I am a known fire Hinson person but I want to see these seniors get their shot in the tournament, they deserve it. I like our path actually, that late game Friday is always worrisome though.
I feel SIU will lose in the second round of the MVC tourney. Barry will be ousted as early as Monday .
Yeah I think chances are slim, but never say never. If you would have bet me a significant amount of money last March, on Porter Moser making a final four, I might have taken that bet.
Every dog has his day.
As I posted in the MVC thread, Southern couldn't ask for a better path. Very favorable quarterfinal matchup, and Loyola is on the other side of the draw.
Assuming it's Drake-ISU on Fri night, that should be an interesting one, but Drake is the better team ... certainly much better chemistry. A Drake-SIU semi on Saturday could be a pretty good one ... guessing it would be a close game that might just come down to which team can knock down a few more 3s.
With Lucas Williamson back for Loyola, I think they're the tournament favorite, but they're certainly beatable. I'd give Drake, SIU and Bradley the best chances to take them down.
I think Loyola is the best team in the league, followed by Drake. Drake is the only team we haven't beaten -should have won in C'dale but hard to win when you're emulating The Walking Dead. That said, there isn't a team in the league we can't beat. I think our talent is as good as anyone in this league, and the players just may play their butts off knowing they're this close to the big dance.
I give SIU, Loyola, Drake, and Illinois State all a chance to win it.

Barry will be ousted within hours after the loss.
Craving a McBride Special!
We will have our day very soon to discuss Barry or stop discussing him... As far as the path goes, I can't imagine it having worked out better other than we got the late game Saturday. This team seems locked in and motivated again and most importantly they are feeling confident. If I was putting odds on the tournament I would say from best odds to win it to lowest I would rank the teams like this.
Loyola, SIU, Drake, Bradley, Illinois State, UNI, Missouri State, Indiana State, Valpo, Evansville
I think Drakes path is harder than ours because of the talent on that 7 seed team... They are 2 half court shots away from being a top 3 seed... so I would make us a slight favorite to win it all over them.
I don't give Bradley much chance, because every time they go into the huddle and have to look at Wardell's 50s flattop, they get distracted from the game! 😀
(Apology to all flattop wearers out there! My older brother has worn one all his life!)

I understand what u are saying. It's a tough road to hoe out of that 8:30pm (or later) time slot. Purple kitties are playing better and it's tough to beat a well coached team thrice.

Very true, but I think we match up with them well. AC gave Green fits the second half at the arena. Green wanted no part of having the ball with Cook in his grill.
Wow, the basketball gods must really want to see Hucky have his moment at the most dramatic of times ...

Illinois State will end our season yet again and Barry will be ousted soon after
The opportunity is there for the taking seems like the stars are aligning for Barry, maybe this is lucky number 16.
