Which team is the Salukis???
The team that got run out of the gym earlier this week in Terre Haute? Or...
The team that is blowing up the Billikens right now??
Well, the Trees did go ahead and win today at Peoria.
Probably somewhere in the middle. Not good enough to beat the good teams but good enough to beat up on the bad teams. Saint Louis is probably a sub-200 KenPom team pretty soon if that's the same team they get the rest of the year.
Xavier Johnson being really good really raises the floor of this team though. Still have concerns about the future of the program though since he's gone after this year.
They're the real deal, baby!
It is college basketball there is no answerjust look at the scores around the country on a daily basis that is why Vegas is Vegas
That's the question I've been asking myself the last couple hours....
Mullins seams to be letting these guys play and shoot more than previous teams. Maybe he is learning. I don't remember a time we have won this many games by blow out this early in the season. We generally play to our competition, and that goes back to Weber.
Part of that answer is, there is a difference between playing a really good team on the road and playing a decent team at home. The trees are probably the best team in the conference, so losing big to them on the road isn't a surprise. The real test will be how do we play against them at home when we get them in Carbondale. The valley as a whole, is going to be very hard to win any games on the road this season. The trees huge win in Peoria today is going to be something that's rare. The team that wins this conference could easily have 5-7 conference loses. Thats not out of the realm of possibilities at all.Which team is the Salukis???

Are we good? Because really, I'd like to know.
The result of the last two games is very confusing; getting smacked by the Trees (yes, I realize they're very good), and then beating STL by 40. What??? SIU doesn't beat anyone by 40.
However, we've also sandblasted other teams so far and nearly beat a legit top 25 program on a neutral floor. Pretty impressive considering the injuries, ineligibility, and lack of game-time continuity with all the new pieces. That makes me think we might actually be pretty good. It also makes me wonder about the ceiling for this group if they were whole.
Also, X … wow, I can't recall ever seeing a player take such a leap, especially an upperclassman. Someone said he looks like one of the best guards in the MVC. Duh! Right now he looks like one of the best guards in the nation! I sure hope he can keep this up.
--Insert something witty here--
We’ve had more good games than bad so far so I’m inclined to believe we are better than the ISU blue fiasco.
If we've EVER had a PG better than X, I don't know who it would be.

Is this a joke? Ignoring the current SIU coach who ran circles around Johnson both defensively and as a distributor(not a stalwart offensively but it took Johnson until his 5th year in college to not be "meh" himself)...
There's literally a former SIU point guard in the basketball hall of fame.
X is 4th in the nation in scoring and we're into December. I think Anthony Beane Jr (who played some point) is the closest I've seen to what he's doing. I don't care what he did in the past, what he's doing right now is amazing to watch. He's literally changed the trajectory of this season by himself.
