SLU was undefeated vs. the Valley last year. They have to win at Drake later in the week to keep from going winless vs. the Valley this year.
They beat the Redturds at home earlier this year

They already beat the Redturds 80 - 71.
SIU gets a 141 to 109 bump in KenPom, SLU drops to 222 from 169.
It's hard to be critical after a game like this. These guys really were impressive today, and this game has done a lot to wash out the foul taste in my mouth from the InSu game.
BUT (you could see that coming from a mile away, eh?) some things that are concerning to me:
1. XJ should not have played more than 30 minutes. Mullins runs guys into the ground in the early season; he has done it every year, and he's doing it with XJ now.
2. A related note: Mullins needs to learn how to develop a bench. That doesn't happen by playing a 6-7 man rotation early in the season or by leaving starters in with a 20+ point lead. Players need real game action to develop, and I don't see that happening much.
Again, it was a great game. I'd feel even better about it if some thought had been put into player development instead of just sticking guys in during garbage time.
To his credit, Mullins did give Kennard some good minutes, so it wasn't all bad.
But playing XJ 35 minutes per game is not good. And Mullins, of all people, should know that, given that his own career was compromised by overwork.

Holy crap! 101 points!?!? Didn't see that coming.

Good point. I was especially surprised that Ebube only got 7 minutes. It's obvious he needs some serious playing time to develop, and we need both him and Rupert.
Even in a impressive win there are people who aren't happy and have to fine something to complain about enjoy the bounce back win and let the staff coach as far as a short bench it is easy when you only have 9 healthy bodies

I notice that you didn't bother to address any of the issues I brought up.
Are you fine with XJ playing 35+ minutes per game?
Are you fine with the lack of player development, something that could have happened in a game in which we had a 20+ point lead for the bulk of it?
Apparently everything is just fine. We'll shoot lights out EVERY GAME! HUZZAH!
I enjoyed the win. I just don't think it did anything to erase some problems this team has. That is all.

I apologize your opinion is all that matters I am sure these problems well be addressed by the staff in the appropriate manner after all I am not at practice to see how the staff addresses these issues if I were I would give you the answers you seek and as far as today I believe Mullins was trying to prove something to Ford for some reason also I think young guys in there 20s can handle the work loadEven in a impressive win there are people who aren't happy and have to fine something to complain about enjoy the bounce back win and let the staff coach as far as a short bench it is easy when you only have 9 healthy bodies

I think what jabman62 was trying to point out is we were up by 15 at half and won by 38 and there are as many negative posts as positive. It would be nice to enjoy the win and maybe start being critical tomorrow.
In the X J case, we don’t have another point guard who can do anything until Sharp comes back.Even in a impressive win there are people who aren't happy and have to fine something to complain about enjoy the bounce back win and let the staff coach as far as a short bench it is easy when you only have 9 healthy bodies

I'm excited for Sharp but not sure how much you can rely on a Freshman point guard too. They tend to go through growing pains.
Trey Miller not being good is a killer. I hope he gets better as the year goes on but he's been unplayable so far even in blowouts.
I only have one complaint about today's game. They got the Culver's Flavor of the Day wrong. The announcer said to "go to Culver's after the game and get yourself a Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch concrete". I thought that sounded awesome, so I DID go to Culver's after the game.
I ordered a medium "flavor of the day" concrete. They said "you realize that's Blackberry Cobbler, right?" I said "no, that's not what they said at the Saluki game. They announced it was Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch." They said "we don't even know how to make a concrete like that."
So, I invented my own. Chocolate Espresso Pecan. It was delicious.

No. There AREN'T "as many negy posts as positive."
That is bullshit.
But fair enough, I guess: it would have been better to create a separate post instead of "raining on the parade," but I'm sure I still would have caught brickbats for being a "hater."
I stand by everything I said, especially about XJ playing too many minutes. Domask and Jones were both gassed by mid-February every year they played here. And there has been way too little player development with real-time minutes.
Sorry, but that is the nasty underbelly of a win like this, which tends to obscure weaknesses.
Sheridan Sharp isn't ready? Well, a game like this is a perfect chance to start getting him ready.
