Johnson is playing at a First Team All-MVC level. Amazing.
I do think it’ll be harder for him to sustain if he doesn’t get more help at backup PG. With Miller really struggling, it does make you wonder if Sheridan Sharp, who looked pretty healthy in warmups, is able to play soon and give 6-10 functional minutes a game, either spelling XJ or letting him play off the ball for a bit. I think that would have a lot of value, but no idea whether Sharp is up to that as a true freshman.
You never know about a true freshman but, he was point guard for the #1 team in Indianapolis, 33-0, state champion. I’m guessing he has some chops.Johnson is playing at a First Team All-MVC level. Amazing.

Unfortunately we have no alternative to the point guard situation as currently stated because of struggles and injuries and during yesterdays game even with the experiment of Troy as point forward was not met with very good results but it does show the staff is aware of its current situation and trying to alleviate the burden on XJ also I believe Trey is getting better I just think he needs to relax and play he seems a little keyed up trying to hard same goes for Scottie it happens when you struggle and want to make an impact and do well they just need some positives to go there way
I was very high on Miller coming into the season. I felt he was going to be a big piece of the puzzle and may even play alongside of XJ at times. Unfortunately, as noted, he was struggled. I did see some very positive minutes in their blowout loss to Ind St but, once again, he seemed to struggle against STL. That being said, he does possess the quickness to play in this league and I am still hopeful that he can find his way and help this team.
One thing I always look for, especially as the season goes on, is what our bench is doing. Even the players who aren't getting significant, or any, minutes are still up on their feet, celebrating key plays. That says a lot about the players, team and staff. Glad to see they're all still engaged. Last year I definitely noticed one player who seemed disengaged and it wasn't surprising to see that person leave. Let's hope the unity continues............. winning makes that a lot easier.
Really glad siu beat SLU, and I doubt they will ever come back to Carbondale. I'm guessing Mullins run the score up to make a statement in saint louis area to help recruiting in that region. Not a terrible idea, 40 pt beat downs probably make more of story than say a 10 point victory, just saying, lol
XJ 31
TD 20
CR 14
JS 14
KD 11
Nice game from D'Amico - much better than last game.
I think this should be our starting line-up tomorrow. ⬆️
I don't think he really "ran up the score" since he had all the starters out for the last 7 or 8 minutes of the game.Really glad siu beat SLU, and I doubt they will ever come back to Carbondale. Right. And making 18 3pointers ain't gonna happen every night. It was just one of those rare moments when everybody has a great game. Sure is wonderful to see such an impressive bounce back from the Ind St. debacle. It has got to be a great team lift and give some added confidence coming into tonites game with OSU. I wonder how much the Cowboys are thinking about it.
