Not sure how much clock he'll get, but Steffe will eventually end up in the rotation if not right away. We're gonna need his ability to stretch the floor.
I agree with this unless he really scuffles defensively. One other scenario is if Bey really puts it together and serves as that wing/3-point weapon off the bench … I’m not sure if the rotation will go deep enough for both of them to get regular minutes, but I think the team needs at least one of them to provide a spark.
Nagy said in a recent interview Steffe is a great shooter but needs to get better defensively to see the floor in games. He did say he was improving defensively, but it sounds like he's not there yet.Not sure how much clock he'll get, but Steffe will eventually end up in the rotation if not right away. Just got out of the scrimmage. HIGH HOPES! Better than I ever thought!
Elijah Eliot is Tony Young.
Really excited now. Worried no more!

Any other standouts?
Best player in the scrimmage was Davis and it wasn't even close. He scored by far the most points and played the best defense. He was money from deep and also aggressive to the basket. If the scrimmage is any indication his improvement from Freshman to Sophomore season is the biggest that I can remember. He hit a buzzer beater in OT to win the second scrimmage.Just got out of the scrimmage. HIGH HOPES! Better than I ever thought!

Dibba is a stud, but not a great outside shooter. He is super quick, long athletic and can really elevate. I think his points will come from mid range and at the rim. Mayo looked good. He has a high basketball IQ and gets shots off you wouldn't think a 6'3" player would get. The giant surprise was Aligbe. He is going to help us this year. I would be extremely shocked if he reshirted. He is super athletic and has an inside and outside game. He is miles ahead of Webber at this point. Weber is a good candidate for a redshirt. Elliott can run the point and I would be very surprised if he doesn't start at the 1. Outside shooting is going to be an issue. Elliott, Sykes and Dibba all struggle from 3. Steffe, Hensley and Davis look to be our best threats from 3. I thought Steffe looked decent in the scrimmage. He has to get quicker, but if his defense continues to improve he may be a sniper off the bench.
New look Salukis. Crazy athletic, long, will play good D but might struggle from deep.
Side note, Massey sat out with a foot injury. It appears not to be too serious but I don't have a timeline.
I sat with both Salukian and ReSaluki at the scrimmage today and pretty much agree with all that was said. So glad Hensley and (especially) Kennard decided to stay. Sharp looks improved, too. The new guys are all good athletes. Steffe is a sniper and Bey could be, too. Jaheem has been slowed by a hamstring injury. Give him time.
But yeah, my biggest takeaway (surprise) was how good Aligbe is for a true Freshman. He's going to get a LOT of playing time at the 5.
Did Moreno play much !
Appreciate the reports: mostly sounds promising.
I do hope Massey gets healthy soon because his rebounding and (relatively) veteran presence could be a significant piece of the frontcourt equation. But Aligbe potentially being a pleasant surprise is intriguing.
Anyone hearing who SIU will be (secret) scrimmaging and when?
I literally just got chills from reading the reports about the scrimmage.
I do hope we’re not getting our hopes too high. We still have a bunch of guys who, for the most part, have never played together, and for a coaching staff who has never coached them. Odds are they’ll have to suffer through some growing pains before things pan out.
I’m excited, though.
Everyone played a lot because it was a 5 on 5 scrimmage and Massey was out. Only 1 reserve on each team and they rotated a lot. Moreno looked decent. He's not a scorer. I think his contributions will mainly come as a big inside presence and rebounding. He'll get a few back to the basket type hooks and some put backs. He's lost a lot of weight but still needs to get in better shape cardio wise. I think he may start at the 5, but I imagine we'll rotate Aligbe, Massey and possibly Hensley all at that spot also. Hensley and Massey will also get plenty of time at the 4 too. We are going to push the tempo so Hensley at the 5 with the right defensive matchup may still happen a little this year.Did Moreno play much !
Haven't heard anything on a secret scrimmage yet. I'd guess they have one scheduled for next weekend and then they next week they have the home exhibition against North Park.
Moreno played about 75% of the scrim.
He’s a project. Had some great rebounds, put backs.. but his D…. Coaches yelling “No, stay low!” And in one instance, Sharpe drove right by him and made a layup.
How did the "bigs" shoot FT's ?
Moreno looks like a 50% type FT shooter, he struggled at Juco. He's not as bad as our most recent centers as his form isn't a total disaster. Aligbe looks good at the line. Weber looks like he'll be a little better than Moreno. I think he shot about 60% in high school. How did the "bigs" shoot FT's ?
