But yeah, my biggest takeaway (surprise) was how good Aligbe is for a true Freshman.  He's going to get a LOT of playing time at the 5.

Great to hear that Aligbe has a real chance to be an immediate contributor. I'm rooting for him because he was one of the first guys to sign with SIU last spring at a time when we were losing most of last season's roster to the transfer portal, but like many of us I figured he was more of a long-term project. Sounds like he could be a very pleasant surprise.

From a record prediction standpoint, KenPom has us tied for 4th with Drake at 11-9.  They also have us a 15-13 overall record (they're missing the showcase games in FL.

They would be in full scramble mode then having to get an additional 2-3 games on the schedule !!  

The lack of communication about the event from the organizers has been pathetic. Obviously there have been issues … at least provide an update. It’s mid-October.

Agree with pretty much everything said above. Aligbe definitely the surprise of the scrimmage. My main disagreement with a couple of things above was I was not particularly impressed with Elijah. Was hoping for more but was disappointed. On the other hand Sheridan showed real improvement in my opinion and was the better point during the scrimmage .Bey showed flashes but thought Mayo and Sykes were non factors. Again it’s one 30 min snapshot in time. Steffe has improved a lot and showed great court awareness .Lots to be hopeful about but shooting still the big question mark.

@insaluki Hearing it will be a 6 tesm round robin type set up with each team getting three games.

about that tournament, I do know that Florida Gulf Coast University got through the hurricane with minimal issues according to their website and that they still have the tournament listed on their schedule. The small Alico arena is on their campus. I believe I read that it only holds 4,600 fans.

Maybe FGCU is not in the SIU tournament? Looks like they're having a tournament 22-24th on campus.

The Gulf Coast Showcase is 25 - 27th. Website lists no men's teams yet - just women's.

I was surprised to see the men's teams not yet listed on the website. Getting late I think. And it looks like there will be 8 teams maybe? The women's tourney has 8 listed and tickets are on sale for that 11/29 - 12/1.

Maybe they are still looking for commitments this late?
