"To run, it can't just be a few guys, everybody needs to be running!!!!"

A few other notes that caught my attention:
- Nagy thinks this has the makings of a strong defensive team with the length and athleticism but maybe not as great offensively as some of his teams have been.
- He mentioned there isn’t really a true point guard on the roster and said he’s OK with that. I always thought Sharp was since he’s not a shooter but … ?
- He was happy with the spring recruiting haul but doubled down on what he said in his opening press conference about prioritizing keeping guys going forward and trying to mostly build with high school recruits. Mentioned he’d like more Illinois kids on the roster in the future.
- Sounds like some kids aren’t yet on campus but they didn’t specify who.
- In general, he sounds like an old-school coach. Not in a bad way, but he’s just a grizzled ole hoops coach. Glad he has a lot of youth on the coaching staff to help balance that out.
I like what I heard. He seems willing to give a little more info than Mullins did. Good to hear he likes the leadership qualities and defensive potential of the team. If they can defend well I think that will lead to scoring with the athletes we have. He is a straight shooter stating that if we stay healthy some guys aren't going to play. Practices are going to be competitive as guys will want to separate themselves for playing time! Nagy reiterated what we all have noticed in that this team is long and athletic. That turns a long standing SIU deficiency into an asset. I can't remember us ever being longer and more athletic than most of the other teams in the valley.

My biggest takeaways
- No true PG on the roster. Doesn’t seem to bother him much though. Still feels like we have the ball handlers to compete.
- For everyone who was looking for a big shift in offensive production, he mentioned that’s the area he’s not sure about. He went back and mentioned he wasn’t worried about it (“We’ll figure out how to score”), but did say we should be good defensively and should be physical….sounds like and SIU team to me.
- Future recruitment will be more focused on getting guys from Illinois and heavily focused on Freshmen. He’s hopeful that we’ll be able to keep our guys (hope in one hand…). Hasn’t fully embraced the portal which worries me a bit, but that worry can wait until next offseason.
- Wants to play fast…I’ll be interested to see how that plays out. Guys better get in shape!

Maybe that's why Scottie left. 🤣
ROFL 🤣
Any reason why the team is practicing at Davies Gym over the Arena? Coach’s preference?
Probably Camps or other event in the Arena at the moment.
I know he likes to run, but it also sounds like he's got some floor burn u in him!!!Nice! I love to hear coach say that!!
