Davion has many assets to be an player at the next level one day. Him and Dibba were two of my favorite signings this Summer.
Side note - Luke Martin is doing so well. It's very tough to replace a legend, and I appreciate how much he is doing for us and giving us that glimpse into the team in what is a complete rebuilding year just about.
Do we know what's up with Moreno?Assuming Moreno misses most or all of the summer session, does that make it more likely Hensley or Webber end up starting at the 5?
I say yes, assuming one of those guys impresses throughout the summer, unless Moreno shows up in the fall and really shows out. But this is valuable time he’s missing acclimating to Nagy’s expectations and style of play.
I don’t. Luke Martin’s summer interviews have been good, but the absence of a beat writer to report on these kinds of things still sucks.
Luke is doing great! The fact that he is continuing his interview series on his twitter own feed after the interviews were previously carried on the SIU basketball twitter feed that is now suspended is impressive.Davion has many assets to be an player at the next level one day. Hard not to get excited listening to some of this. Sounds like Dibba is going to be a baller. And easy to see why Nagy thinks this is going to be a salty defensive team with guys like Mayo, Davis and Dibba on the floor.
I can't wait to see Davis, Dibba and Sykes on the floor at the same time. That is a long, athletic trio that will be a handful on both sides of the court!Hard not to get excited listening to some of this. Sounds like Dibba is going to be a baller. Yes. There will be deflections. There will be fast breaks. There will be dunks.
I’m curious what kind of ball pressure Elliott can apply on opposing point guards. I think Sharp will do that pretty well off the bench, and maybe Mayo in some cases.
I'm also interested to see if Bey cracks the rotation. He is a 6'9" athletic wing that is pretty dynamic. In Luke Martin's videos he is shown hitting 3's and also shows a nice turn around jumper from mid range. He was pretty highly touted out of high school, but didn't play a ton for the Bears last year. 6'9" wings aren't exactly falling off trees for mid majors!I can't wait to see Davis, Dibba and Sykes on the floor at the same time. I think the way the roster played out, with Mayo, Steffe, Dibba, Davis, Sykes, etc., all commanding significant playing time at the 2 and 3 spots, it’s going to be challenging for Bey, especially if he doesn’t commit to playing defense at a higher level than he did as a freshman. But, 3-point shooting could be a weakness for the team, so if he can show the ability to stroke it from deep, maybe that’s his path to playing time.
I just can't wait. Bring on Football then bring on Bball. Woot woot!
Has Moreno surfaced yet?
The advancement and diffusion of knowledge is the only guardian of true liberty.

One of the things that made Dibba a "must-have" on my list was the video clip posted way back when it came out that he was visiting SIU. That clip showed him causing some serious defensive mayhem. If a few more guys can make those kinds of plays, this could be a lot of fun.
One notable quote for me from Sharp was that he mentioned Jarret playing the 4. He said the 4 can and will bring the ball up the floor in the motion offense.
Man everyone of these interviews has been really good. Excited about Basketball. Go Dawgs.
