Nagy has a long history of redshirting freshman. He believes in redshirting players when he feels it is appropriate and isn't afraid to do it. It was a big complaint on the Wright State fan board. If Aligbe redshirts, which is highly likely, Moreno and Weber are the only remaining true 5's, so we shall see. However, I would say with Nagy's history it is not a given that Weber does not redshirt.https://twitter.com/Dawgs_MBB/status/1809633447792582834?t=k6i_R9Rbdw8No34wVL_Q0A&s=19
Better late than never for Jorge, and good to get a second big-bodied guy in the mix with Webber. Will be interesting to see how he fits in.
Also interesting that Coach Nagy describes him as an "immediate impacter". I suppose that can be a bit ambiguous, but to me suggests he's expected to be more than the depth piece I was thinking would be his ceiling this year.
Practices should be super intense the closer we get to tip-off.
Nagy is not afraid to play freshman. If Webber is in shape/puts in the work expected he'll play some big mins for us. I truly believe that
Nagy does indeed have a history or redshirting freshmen, but I feel like this is a unique season. He has almost an entirely new team and with the Portal growing as a fear to coaches for losing players, I'm not sure we will see the same level of redshirts as we did in the past - especially for this season. Either way, there are often times a player is simply ready and too valuable to redshirt. I'm hoping this is one of those circumstances.
Hopefully you're right.

Can’t wait to get the season started and see the new-look Salukis. I’m excited about SIU hoops for the first time in a long while.

They’re the ones that can get us where we haven’t been in 15 years.

Luke Martin with Ali Dibba:
Leader in the clubhouse to be the Dawgs’ top scorer in 2024-25?
I could see him averaging around 16-18 ppg in Nagy’s system. And better yet, sounds like he’s down to play some defense, too.

I think we'll have pretty spread out scoring numbers. Not sure anyone reaches 18 a game. We have a lot of options especially on the wing. Dibba is going to be a stud though for sure. Excited to watch him play
2nd team all WAC and getting better. Super athletic and good at both ends of the floor. Can't wait to see Dibba, Sykes and Davis on the floor at the same time. Looking forward to seeing the length and athleticism of this team shine!Luke Martin with Ali Dibba:
Another skill I see in Dibba that is apparent when watching film and these Saluki practice videos is he is really adept at using both hands at the rim. He finishes with his left as much as he finishes with his right. Film shows he did that a lot with Abeline Christian too.
@salukiworld Looks like Twaun could be our Energizer bunny big off the bench!!

I think that sounds about right. Seems like he and Hensley are in similar spots of being athletic 4s who also can play some 5 in smaller lineups, with Hensley probably being a little better at stretching the floor offensively, but maybe Massey can earn a role with his defense and willingness to do some dirty work.
He certainly has the athleticism to contribute.
