@siudawgs   Hearing that Richmond is also in the Gulf Coast Showcase.  At this late date I wouldn't be surprised IF this turns into a round robin setup.  SIU has one more game to schedule. Hopefully a home game. Home schedule looks pretty bad so far but the overall schedule is pretty challenging especially for a first-year coach.

Richmond would be a good development.

I hope Nagy's Ohio connections can get MAC home and homes in the future.  There's some good schools like Akron, Toledo, Kent State, and Ohio that are within reasonable distance to get in Carbondale that for some reason we haven't seen.  I think Illinois State recently announced an Ohio home and home.

High Point is the last game added and they’re probably gonna be Big South favorites this year

Yeah, High Point is getting a fair amount of buzz as a trendy mid/low major this year, so a good add ... that'll be the best home non-conference game and a tough test before MVC play really gets going. Guessing Southern will have to return that one next year.

Alan Huss, High Point's coach, was on a few lists as a possible candidate for the SIU job, although I never saw any evidence that he was under consideration. He was a Creighton assistant before taking the High Point job in 2023.

Any idea when the entire schedule, including conference games, will be available?

Overall good schedule..Bad home schedule. One truly worth going to home game. Nd State ok as well. They need to do better next year. Some of this is a result of past years  scheduling.

Truly not trying to be argumentative, but if I lived anywhere close to Carbondale, I would say EVERY home game is worth going to.  Also, unlike some, I personally think it's a good idea to have some lower profile teams on the early schedule when you are trying to find your identity as a team.  They have enough challenges therein to get them ready for conference, but early they need to find out who and what they are.

At some point the NCAA needs to step in and punish schools playing non D1 teams.

1st infraction you are banned from the postseason.

2nd you forfeit your share of the conference postseason money for that season along with the ban.

3rd infraction death penalty.

4th program dissolved and cannot be restarted for 25 years.

So Spike I am a little fuzzy on where you stand on D-1 teams playing non D-1 teams.  Can you please clarify your stance?😂

Too lenient Spike! 4th infraction (or playing New Orleans twice) should lead to firing squad. 🤣

@spike You forgot #5. Firing Squad and not the one where you lose your job.

I'm good with the way things are currently. Don't care much for the payment to players or free agency every year. Destroying the game in my honest and humble opinion.

Now that the players are paid employees, there should be contractual obligations in place to help prevent the annual free agency fire sale and to better protect the players and their universities. Hell, get agents representing the players and their families involved in the recruiting process.

This is the path college athletics has chosen. Might as well do it right.

As for our schedule, I have no real complaints outside of the non-d1 home tilt (I'd still rather see a low-tier d1 instead), but overall its challenging, yet should also give this team enough breathing room to gel without taking on too many early L's.
