Nagy doesn't call timeouts to stem runs. He doesn't believe in that. He wants his team to play through it. That was the number 1 complaint on Wright State's fan board when it was announced he was leaving. Don't expect him to ever call a TO when the opposing team is on a run. He's unconventional when it comes to that.I’m glad to hear Nagy was critical of the effort in the first half. He saw what I saw. Then there was a complete lack of focus and fight after getting punched in the mouth. This group needs to be aggressive and scoring the basketball….
I was wondering if the lack of timeouts was trying to teach a lesson.

That timeout can set up a play, maybe get a score, get D re-organized, slow down the opponent for a few seconds, etc. Nagy's position is very rare among coaches. I don't agree with it.
Will see how Coach works out for us this year. It’s a transition year. And getting in position to recruit some new talent. He only has a few left overs and did bring in some new players. Will see how it plays out.
It wasn't THAT bad! 🤣I’m going to go watch the View. This is terrible.

Amen, amen and amen. No class whatsoever.P.S. Florida coach is a total douche! Arguing with the refs while our player is writhing in pain under the basket. Running a play up 25 when they could just dribble out the clock. Hope he gets canned in disgrace with all the sexual harassment allegations against him.
I have to give Nagy credit for not using coachspeak, he just says what he thinks. I like that.

Got back from the game late last night. Previous posts pretty much have it covered. I saw a glimmer of hope when we got it to 14-13 with about 11 minutes to go into the first half as it was an impressive response after being down 9-2. After that, it devolved into a flurry of missed shots and turnovers for us and endless dunks and 3-pointers from them, with the crowd really turning up the volume -- just an 11-minute defecation show until halftime. We simply were not prepared. Really respect Nagy for owning his role in the lack of preparation during his postgame comments. That's not something I've heard out of previous coaches. I do give us a lot of credit for playing hard until the final buzzer in the second half, even though it was a lost cause.
As for Florida's coach, I've lived in the heart of Gator country for almost seven years and have to say that what he did last night when Elliott was injured accurately reflects most of that fan base.
@mr_woogers Agree. Not calling a time out during that smack down gator run is coaching malpractice. He may have wanted to teach the team a lesson, but in reality, he needs to learn something here. Some coaches do call too many TO's. He's at the other extreme and have to agree with Wright St. fan base on this. This was a situation that demanded a TO. Okay with the loss, but Nagy has to do better also.
And if EE is seriously injured, we could go 0 for Florida. Yes, the Florida coach is a DB.
March on triumphantly!
They’re already seemingly redshirting four guys if you include the Benton walk-on. Now if Elliott is out you’re down to nine bodies for most of the season?
Doesn’t seem like a recipe for success. Best case obviously would be getting Elliott back. If not, really think they’d have to reconsider redshirt decisions.

Could not agree more with everything said about the lack of timeouts. Definitely needed one after Florida got those successive dunks at the beginning of their run. It probably wouldn't have changed the outcome, but it could've slowed them down, given us a chance to refocus, and allowed a moment for Florida fans to quiet down.
A timeout at any other point might've helped take Elijah Martin out of that ridiculous zone he was in for 3/4 of the game as well.
The effort was sub-par in the first half, made repeated poor decisions on offense, and simply played scared. Sucks to not even be competitive, especially knowing SIU is better than what they showed.
Might have to adjust expectations if Elliott is out an extended period, but this can still be a good season if they learn from this game and grow. What we learned right now is they're a long way off.

Roy Williams does.
As I have previously mentioned, I strongly dislike being blown out and embarrassed. Yes, a time out should have been called to stem the roll Florida was on. Maybe we lose by 10-12 points, and not 25!!!
The above being said, it's November 23rd, and not March 1st. Perhaps this is a teaching method used early on?
Side Note: Had no idea good ole Roy Williams was still coaching.
