Let's see...we played a top 25 team on the road.  Fell behind by 15 in the first half.  Worked and clawed back into it to take a lead, took it to OT and had chances to win it several times.  And yet we are not any good, have no "athletes", will be in the basement of the league again next year and probably the year after, and to at least one poster on here we are badly coached, completely disorganized, and have no future as a program.

Just my stupid opinion...we didn't play that great but we kept trying, kept fighting, made a very good game on the home court of the 21st ranked team in the country and the winner of the regular season title.

Me, I was happy and proud of the way the team fought as hard as they did.  Too many turnovers for sure, but we didn't quit, we kept working and trying and had a chance at the end.

Also, the officiating in this game was awful but that's not an excuse of why we lost.

Ok, go ahead and rip me and tell me stupid I am to thing this way.

I really don’t get how pointing out obvious problems is trolling... but alright. We look lost on offense in clutch situations it’s really not even debatable. Why is that trolling?

Because that's all you fucking do here.

Atlanta,

Theres a lot to like about these last two games. Lots of struggling teams would’ve just thrown in the towel at the end of the year. But these guys did not. That alone gives me hope for next year. Domask is such a multi-faceted player that I think he makes everybody around him better.

I do think, however, that Drake and Missouri State have some more athletic players than we do. Just an observation. Maybe that will change next year.

I’m also hoping Banks takes a leap. I feel like he slowed down a bit. I really think he’s an ‘x’ factor for next year’s success.

I'm looking at the scenarios for Arch Madness and I think we're gonna get Bradley on Thursday in the 8-9 game.  ISU is currently down 8 in double OT.

I think we want Drake to beat Bradley, right. Wouldn't that give us Bradley in the 8/9 game and Drake if we beat Bradley? However, last I checked Bradley was up 1 in the 2nd half. If you want to look at tonight as glass half full, it look like we would have still finished no better than 7th with a win as Valpo and UNI are on their way to wins.

Based on what I'm seeing with the scenario chart, with Loyola, UNI, and Valpo locked into wins and Evansville up 14, we're locked into:

7. Northern Iowa

8. Bradley

9. SIU

10. Illinois St

IMO, a rematch with Bradley is the best possible scenario for SIU

I agree, but I would have rather faced Drake in the 2nd round game and it looks like they will get the 2 seed down 8 to Bradley late. Drake will be without Penn and possibly Hemphill.

Call me crazy, but I think SIU matches up better with Loyola than they do with Drake, even considering the Bulldogs key missing ingredients.

If we get by Bradley, and if Domask returns, they'll have to beat us three times in a week. Tough task for anyone. Also, lets not forget the x-factor being that there's no coach around that knows more about Loyola's schemes and personnel than Bryan Mullins.

If SIU is going to make a miraculous run as a 9 seed, this is about the best possible path.

I thought we played pretty darn good for the most part, especially our defense - thought it took a giant step forward. Coach Rodney Watson had high praise for the Salukis these last two games and for Lance Jones today and DAvanzo.

He hasn't played since January 4th.  It'll be 2 months since he last played.

If you are stupid, then I’m riding in the seat behind you on the stupid bus. One of our most pressing needs coming into the year was for an interior rebounding/shot blocking beast, that box was checked with the signing of JD Mulia, who, unfortunately, never played a minute this year. Remove one leg from the five legged stool please. In the 4th conference game of the season, Marcus Domask, one of the best players in the conference, and the guy who we can least afford to be without, is injured and has not played since, you may now remove another leg from the now 4 legged stool. It would have been so easy for the coach and the team to go off sulking in a corner somewhere, feeling sorry for themselves. Instead, just as last year when Aaron Cook was injured, Bryan Mullins said “when someone gets hurt, you look at next guy on the bench”. Just that simple. We have had young guys step up and surprise the fans, Filewich, Verplanken, Banks come immediately to mind, and the team last night showed incredible resilience and grit. It is a direct result of a “first you build the culture” mindset, and recruiting kids of high character and mental toughness, mirror images of their coach. I have absolute confidence in Bryan Mullins, and while I am, like everyone else, am disappointed with the season, I am not dissatisfied. In about 8 months or so this team will be back on the court with a major infusion of talent, and hopefully a healthy group of players. Go Dawgs.                                            PS- let’s spank the gargoyles.

I think they have a better chance of beating Loyola than Drake. Drake is much more athletic and that's where we have problems.

These guys get it. Great posts. Make room for me on this bus.

These Salukis are young, tough and proud. Lord knows there is a lot of work to do. We all know what their shortcomings are, but they are getting better and grittier. Can't wait for Arch Madness and next year.

March on triumphantly!

1st our football team beats the #1 team in the country who had a 39 game winning streak and then we take the #21 basketball team in the country to OT on there home floor. Feeling a little better about saluki athletics this morning.
