If anyone listened to Nagy's postgame, he has given the D over to Hawkins and another assistant and admits D is not his thing. He and the other assistant are working on the offense. He thinks we'll be better at the end of the season - I think so too, but you have to be able to shoot to win games. That is not teachable at this age.
He also mentioned you have to have a strong point guard - the most important position on the team - and a center to win. Lot of truth to that. He mentioned that they're working with Sharp to look less to score and more to enable teammates to score. Also states Steffe is not a point guard. And quote "it's just not a good offensive team but that doesn't mean you can't win"
Doubt we'll be winning this one, but Mo State is coming to town Saturday. We can win that one with good effort.

(And Nagy is not on the hot seat. BM went 16 - 16 first year but he had Jones (Hinson recruit), Domask (new assistant recruited him for his old school), and a decent big in Barret Benson. Also played a few blood donors non-conference.)
@mr_woogers Nagy didn’t say D is not his thing, he said this new pressure defense they are implementing is not his forte. If he came out and said that after an entire offseason preaching how defense is the most important thing to him, that would be wild. Although, watching his pack line defense this year, I would tend to agree more with your original statement.
Let’s hope we can keep it under 20…I can’t believe that is something I am typing.
@mr_woogers also you forgot to mention there was no NIL money no unlimited transfers Barrett was a 5th year senior was allowed to transfer as a grad student so if we are going to compare 1st year's let's also look at conference record and scoring margin

so far, I like our energy and effort. We have the worst 3pt D in the MVC - need to tighten that up. They are 3rd in the MVC in 3 pt shooting.
If Massey's going to foul their big guy, he needs to really whack him instead of a wimpy foul that let's the guy make a layup.
I know they're down 10 so my expectations are in the tank but I don't hate the way they're playing right now. Won't win this game against a team that never loses at home but this kind of effort will at least win some Valley games
