I don’t think we are good… I don’t think we are bad either. With a couple breaks why can’t this team win a game or 2 in STL? They’re literally in every single game at the end.
What game were you guys watching that SIU was in? They were down double digits most of the second half. They cut it to 9 a few times, even 8 once or twice. But they weren't really in the game.
Especially not when you run the "watch some guy dribble for 8 seconds offense.
Additionally, unless you were expecting them to shoot 100% from the free throw line, free throws didn't cost them this game.

A) they shot 11-23… that’s awful
B) this was their worst game, I was speaking more generally about being in every game. They still had a shot late in this one to cut to to a 2 possession game with plenty of time.
Perhaps eliminate the nepotism component and bring in a high powered offense oriented assistant coach?

Unless Brendan gets a head coaching gig, they aren’t splitting up anytime soon.

It was actually an anemic 13 of 22 but still under 60%. Sad by any measure. What's pathetic about it is, we have played most teams close with an underwhelming offense. That being the case, one would think FT's would be a priority. Simply not the case. BM talks about "building a culture" and "controlling the things you can." This is an element of the game that is controllable. Not talking about 85% either, but something around 75% would be a nice start.
March on triumphantly!

There aren't people who really think we don't practice free throws right? That is insane. This has clearly become a mental thing with some of our best FT shooters even. Controlling what you can control does not and has never been in reference to shots going in. That would be attitude, hustle, working hard, playing through adversity, etc... Nobody intentionally misses shots.

Yeah, for Bryan’s first-ever big job, it’s not a good look to put your own brother on the coaching staff.
Probably isn’t easy for the other assistants either, knowing that.

I mean it's not like Brendan had zero experience coming in to this job. He had been an assistant for longer than Bryan before coming here. I don't think it's a bad look, but as a staff they have to get the job done. I'm sure Mullins will make changes if he feels it's necessary or eventually he won't have a job.
