52 points. Jones streaky as ever. Foster Wonders, another DNP. The bigs seldom involved on offense. If you’re not going to find ways for Domask to get involved against their excellent D, the scoring has to come from somewhere.

Yeah...nobody wants to play on Thursday but nobody taking control. Crap game, and rebounding continues to be a problem. Well, this one went as expected.

I like our guards but I really hope Mullins starts recruiting some guys with length in the future. Karrington Davis is a good start.

They’ve done a good job recruiting bigs, love Ebube and Hornecker.

But we don’t have any athletic wings in the 6-5 to 6-7 range.

Good job recruiting them.  Poor job playing them.  If you are getting murdered on the glass then try something different.

IMO, both Ebube and Hornecker should be getting about 10 minutes of action per game.

If for no other reason than gaining  some valuable experience so they come into next year ready to be key contributors.

And also we NEED them this year.

Supporter of the Fab 4: Scottie Ebube, Foster Wonders, AJ Ferguson & Cade Hornecker.

They’re the ones that can get us where we haven’t been in 15 years.

Ugh. Been a rough two games for the Dawgs. Need to finish 6-1 the rest of the way.

With tight games like this every miss/turnover is magnified…and every offensive rebound is killer. We gave up 12 offensive rebounds and turned it over 12 times. We missed more layups than I can count and our best player shot the ball 5 times and only made one.

I said before the game that we don’t match up well with these guys and it is painfully obvious we just didn’t have the bodies to rebound with these guys. I don’t know how many times I saw people just turn around and look at the basket after a shot, go find a fucking body and box out.

We have zero margin for error moving forward. Have to win the home games coming up, and steal a couple on the road. Time to see what these guys are made out of now.

This team is really not that much better than last year.  The Valley is just much worse and they pulled off a few wins they didn't last year.

Afraid I have to agree. We have a good pt. guard in XJ, we have some bigs now, but we haven't really replaced Coupet's and Verplancken's 18 ppg.

I was really hoping CH would play from game 1 - baptism by fire - and be "experienced" by now. And also that Ebube would be a real plus by now, neither of which happened.

that will be difficult considering we still have 3 games left vs Bradley, Northern Iowa and Drake.

Never know what you’ll get with Missouri state, hope we get Bad MSU on Sunday.

Good news is 3 of those against UIC and Valpo. Of the other 4, 3 at home and one on the road against Drake. It’s definitely doable with that schedule, but this crap we’ve seen this week has to stop.

I thought XJ was, once again, very good tonight but him missing the front end of a one n one really hurt at that time.  Had he made both, you just never know.

After tonight, there will be a 4 way tie for first place, with another 4 teams just 1 game behind.  Amazing that we, or any of the others, could go from 1st to 9th in the blink of an eye.

Pretty disappointing outing by Lance. While Domask had very difficult matchups with Leons and Henry, that wasn’t the case for Lance. He needs to be a reason SIU beats Bradley in the rematch(es), not a liability for much of the game.

That said, five shot attempts for Marcus is obviously not going to cut it.

This is a very offensively challenged team.  It is actually a tribute to the tough defense that SIU plays to be where we are.  As previously stated the shooting of Coupet and Verplancken is sorely missed.  I certainly hope Domask, Jones and XJ are back next year if not, it is going to be a very rough ride.

i thought the coaching was fantastic, especially that lineup in the first half that scored like 0 points in eight minutes after we took an early lead.  bright notes, officiating was great. did not realize the game was sponsored by a traveling agency that also does not call you while they move your screens up their own bunghole.  maybe if lance backed up a few feet we would have had 0 more points.  salukis definitely did an awesome job of keeping the braves off the boards.im very optimistic and thrilled about our chances in march. overall i could not be more impressed as well as pleasantly surprised

🤣 🤣

I know this is sarcasm, but highlighted is what I thought was Bryan's first of several major coaching mistakes on the night; we started the game with good intensity defensively and a nice rhythm on offense, particularly with Newton scoring 5 straight. Bryan then promptly replaces Newton, Rupert and Johnson with Banks, D'Amico and Muila and we go on a huge scoring drought. Changed the game, IMO.

Also, we have size ... can we please, PLEASE use more of it when we are getting absolutely crushed on the glass??

Gosh, I really like Bryan Mullins, but my goodness he still has a lot of growth to do as a head coach.

I don’t mind X and Newton taking some of Domask’s shots, especially when Domask has a good / athletic defender on him.  It seems they have shot at a pretty high clip this year.  According to box score, Domask and Jones were 6-19 (31%).  Rest of team 13-27 (48%).  I would actually like to see X and Newton look for their shot more when they get in or near the paint.

Also looked to me like Domask struggled on D.  Had a hard time keeping ball in front of him, lost his guy and gave up a couple open threes, and couldn’t get key rebounds on his side.

The positive is the Salukis are still in the thick of the race, and I like their chances as good as any!
