Bravo. Well said. By the way, Murray beat Bradley. Murray is undersized.I genuinely do not mean this to sound offensive, because I’m not trying to take a shot at you… Metrics and NET, and KenPom and all those things annoy me. There is no context, there is no film… take the 3 games before conference in Alcorn, and Chicago state, Mullins was giving equal playing time to our bigs. KenPom and NET give credit for blowouts, which is fine but SIU and the MVC doesn’t play a style that leads to many blow outs. I know these predictive tools have their place, but I just don’t care what they say. The fact is this is an extremely competitive team in an extremely competitive league that the metrics really hate because the league as a whole really struggled in non conference… but when the leagues best players were poached by the likes of Missouri and Kentucky the November struggles are not a surprise, and they are likely to happen due to roster turn over year to year.It is easy to be negative after a bad loss. The thing is, look at our last 14 games or so, overall have been good. Bradley hasn’t looked all the great lately in my opinion. I’m scared of this one, but wouldn’t be surprised if we win. Let’s do it!
They’re winning games but I wouldn’t say they’ve played well. From the Alcorn State game on, they’ve gone 12-2 but have dropped from 103 to 117 in KenPom. The wins are what’s important and they’re not getting an NCAA or NIT at-large but I’d be a bit worried about what this means going forward since KenPom is usually an accurate predictive tool
Im surprised to see you acknowledge anything that Murray has done. @Dawgbytes 😂😂
This game has me very nervous. When you get into February the schedule gets tougher because guys are getting banged up and we're still talking about kids in college trying to keep up with their studies. I wish to hell we could just fly the team up there, but I know that's not in the budget. I think it's about a 4 hour bus ride up to Peoria and I'm guessing they're on their way up there now.
I think it’s going to be very tough to win this came against a good Bradley team in front of their crowd.
I just hope we can come out and play a good first half and look decent on offense, but that’s what I hope for every game.
I think the conference championship will basically just be a crapshoot between the top 4 or 5 teams.
I can honestly say, for the first time in a really long time that there isn’t a single team in the MVC that impresses me this year, not one.
But even though we’re not going to the NCAA once again, it would be really nice to actually win the regular season crown, and maybe that would help with recruiting and get us some better offensive players.
If Mullins and company can figure out a way to just get the Salukis to be mediocre on offense instead of bad, this 2023 club could be very good.
Fingers crossed for tonight. Go Dawgs!!
(hoping Wonders can come in for a couple 3s, sucks to see him basically ride the bench for 2 years now; he’s likely gone).

They’re the ones that can get us where we haven’t been in 15 years.
It's not smoke and mirrors in a season where you beat Oklahoma State, Murray State, Indiana State and Missouri State on the road.I think we'll get smoked at Bradley. I hope to be proven wrong.
Until Southern has a true statement game, I agree. We have won this season with smoke and mirrors. Not what I was expecting this season.
Sorry I hurt all your feelings. This team has under performed. The talent is there to be very good. I like all of the players and the coaching staff. Just do not understand how we have struggled to win most of these games. We play down to the competition. Hey I love maroon koolaid just as well as anyone else, but we could very easily be in 8th place with a .500 record. And by smoke and mirrors I mean lucky. I hope we win out and make the Field of 68. Not holding my breath.
It took everything I had! Now you get back to those eggrolls!!Bravo. Well said. By the way, Murray beat Bradley. You didn't hurt my feelings, you just made an inaccurate post, IMO. Good teams win close games on the road. This team has done that in most circumstances. The mvc is a very tough place to win road games. Teams know each other very well and can scheme against tendencies. We are tied for 1st and have some very good wins for fux sake. I think everyone on this board would have taken 17-6 and 9-3 in the mvc at this point. No one is going to run away with the conference. Yes, we can get better, but we were picked anywhere from 2nd to 4th preseason and are tied for 1st, that doesn't sound like underperforming to me.It's not smoke and mirrors in a season where you beat Oklahoma State, Murray State, Indiana State and Missouri State on the road.I think we'll get smoked at Bradley. In terms of how the regular season is viewed overall, SIU is in pretty good position, but it's going to come down to February.
If SIU wins out at home and beats Valpo and UIC on the road, most will view it as a pretty successful regular season. If SIU does better than that, people will be delighted. If worse, there will be grumbling.
And then the real fun begins in St. Louis!

I respectfully disagree. No ill feelings. JMHO
Dawgs are on track to win conference----protect home court and win half on the road. The Indiana State loss is really harmful, but a 6-4 road record should be sufficient if Dawgs hold service at home. Win one of next two and it will be hard for anybody to catch them. LET'S WIN BOTH!
Anytime you go to the center of all vileness and evil just escaping is good. A win and I may be drunk until Sunday
I think what SIU is doing this year is fine. They're competing for an MVC Championship for the first time since 2007 and have taken a step up from where they've been under Mullins. They're going to have to keep taking another step going forward though because I don't think the Valley is going to be down for long. I don't expect the 2000's Salukis back at all but it would be nice to compete for at-large NCAA Tournament bids in a multiple bid Valley.
I will say though, if SIU doesn't win the Valley regular season or doesn't win in St. Louis, this will be another year without postseason basketball and in my opinion, that's not a successful season when you have Domask and Jones as Seniors and all the continuity from last year.

Don't count us out of the NCAAt convo just yet. If we hang onto a top 4 seed for the Arch, I think we may very well be the team to beat. Our style of play and depth will favor us nicely.
--Insert something witty here--
i dont expect a win tonight, but quite frankly those are much easier games to watch. the team was easier for me to watch the last few years expecting to lose a lot and a mediocre finish. it is hard to adjust to expecting a win most games, and the occasional disappointments have been pretty darn rough. while i do not expect a win, my prediction is bradley will have the last shot to win this game. dawgs either win 65-63 or lose in overtime 72-69. im with barkeep that ill not be sober until sunday if they win. so win or lose this will be my last post that makes sense for a few days. godspeed
I hope Referee Barbie is not calling this game.
