Demoralizing day. Drake is the best team in the league when Penn is clicking (unlike in the first meeting in Carbondale).

Southern has to regroup and try to take advantage of a pretty favorable late schedule to stay in the top four. Not a given by any stretch.

Thought we needed to keep it in the 60’s to have a shot and they scored 82…we were only 22 points away!

Belmont just beat UIC at home 98-71.

That just says it all.

How come we go to Drake and get blitzed from the jump as a player how can you continually come out flat

Because in team sports it’s about more than a player being mentally ready for a game. Players at this level always think they’re ready for a game. It’s deeper than that. It’s a coaches job to help assure that mental preparation is linked together and within the game plan, 1-12.

Consistent poor starts is a reflection on a coaching staff that perhaps needs to re-examine their pregame process.

Just listening to Mullins post game he said h has to get better at getting ready to play and it is fault while I commend him for taking the blame in my opinion he needs to place some blame on his players and make them accountable after all they have to be better and want to play with some intensity

Another thing, we are playing like a team that’s run out of gas. Major coaching error not developing our more than capable depth earlier in the season.

It’s also mind boggling that some of these guys with so much promise can’t even get garbage minutes on a day when the regulars should’ve stayed in Carbondale.

Maybe Mullins left the seniors in to teach them a lesson for stinking up the State of Iowa today.

Running out of gas has been a theme under Mullins in his 4 years.  If SIU can't get to Saturday this year in a really weak Valley playing so many Seniors, I think you have to wait on an extension.

He can hold them accountable in private…doing it publicly does zero good and is exactly how you lose a locker room. See BBQ’s Murray rant. Leaders take the blame in this scenario, I think he handled it perfectly.

Speaking of out of gas, Domask has been kept completely in check in the past two games against high-level opponents (at Bradley, today). Concerning trend, if two games can be called a trend.

That needs to change in the home game with Bradley and certainly in St. Louis or this season will end with a thud.

One positive I’ll take from this, thought D’Amico was pretty good today. He’s strung together quite a few decent games. Hope he can continue this through the end of the year.

You're probably gonna be sick anyway because after these last two games., no way we win out. Hate to be a pessimist. And no way we win three in the Lou. Kills me to say it. But we have already peaked.

March on triumphantly!
