My biggest problems with Mullins are:
1) His fascination with "small line-ups"
2) Consistently playing players out of position
3) Allowing players to jack up unlimited 3-pointers when we are literally one of the worst outside shooting teams in the country
4) Lack of "set plays"
5) The continued head-scratching use of Trent Brown in meaningful minutes, while Wonders, Hornecker, Ferguson, and now Banks languish on the bench
Just listening to Mullins post game he said h has to get better at getting ready to play and it is fault while I commend him for taking the blame in my opinion he needs to place some blame on his players and make them accountable after all they have to be better and want to play with some intensity
With all due respect, no.

I’d be OK with small lineups if there were more dynamic scorers among them, but that ain’t the case.
Mullins has his strengths, but hard to argue with much of the above. Drake had a few really crisp plays today (including on the opening possession) that had me rather envious.

Could not of said it better.
Also: this team is crying out for a knockdown 3-point shooter to make teams pay for doubling Domask. That’s why I keep harping on Wonders’ scarce role this season … he needed to be a key piece for this team to be more dangerous.
Love MD, but when he gets the ball, and the inevitable double/triple team happens, he often remains flat footed and unable/unwilling to find an open man, and there are several. Which too often results in a predictable turnover or steal. We really had the deer in the headlights look today, and as someone posted earlier, very embarrassing for such a veteran team.
March on triumphantly!

I don’t have anything against wonders, but in the small sample size I have watched him play, he does not look ready for D-1 ball yet. I was hoping for a Shane Hawkins type player, but I’m not too bright.

Agree. But Lance only took six threes today.. at least one was a really bad shot but he made 50% of them. Domask and Brown were 0-5 from 3. Domask was 1-8 in field goals ..he just looked worn out to me.
On weekends in away games we are 1 - 5 and that one win was at Missouri State and it was a very close game.
Getting whipped at Drake is exactly what I expected. They are a very good team. BTW, Bradley lost at Drake by 25.
Any team that can shut down Marcus Domask is going to beat us.
One last thing…no one in the Valley beats Drake if they play like that. We didn’t play great defense, but it wasn’t terrible either. They hit a lot of tough shots today and that combined with a solid defense makes for a really difficult game.
That’s a top 25 team we saw today. Wish they would have been better in the non-con.

I agree. That was a sweet 16 team you saw today.
A couple of their shots were just plain damn lucky.
They still have a game at Northern Iowa who took them to double overtime at Drake. However UNI got absolutely blasted at home by Indiana State today.
Indiana State could easily tie for the conference Championship. Their toughest game is at Belmont.
GM Chrysler ladies, I miss one game and come back to this. I had more faith in all of you. 😎
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
one can only tip their hat and say drake played phenomenal. one can also say siu has consistently had one of the worst approaches toward a thing a called offense for way too long. newton was a gamer today. lack of play time for scottie is beyond disappointing. one does not get in "game shape" by riding the bench and by now he should be back or they should consider hiring a conditioning coach that could get it done. drake will not play like they just did in stl. neither will the dawgs. its stl or bust and im pretty sure siu has a good shot on the neutral court close to home. the valley is jekyll and hide
also devries injury is a perfect example of going to the hoop like a wimp and falling over when it was not even a foul and getting hurt. the valley officiating crew is great at calling fouls that look like fouls unless it is an siu player taking the ball to the rack about 73 percent of the time. really tired of it, and yes it didnt affect the game today but needs to be pointed out. when siu gets a 15 point lead it is the complete opposite of what i witnessed today
@rockin-dawg An excellent analysis! In the area of set plays we need to set OFF THE BALL SCREENS to get more cutting. We also need to get the ball into the lane/post areas by PASSING rather DRIBBLING. Finally, burning up Hornecker's redshirt then not playing him at all is coaching malpractice. This coaching staff needs to get better!
SIU finished #125 in KenPom last year. They're at #131 right now.
