If MoState and Loyola win, Southern plays MoState

If MoState and Northern Iowa win, Southern plays Drake

If Evansville and Loyola win, Southern plays Northern Iowa

If Evansville and Northern Iowa win, Southern plays Loyola

I don’t think it matters.  Friday is more than likely the END.

I'd probably rather play Drake at this point.  Neither is a good matchup for SIU but playing Mosley and Prim in a win or go home game sounds bad.  I guess there's always the Dana Ford can't coach factor.

We are treating this, at least some of us, like it’s a baby just learning to walk.

Does anyone think SIU will seriously compete for a MVC championship next year?  How much better can Marcus Domask possibly get?  He’s Already real good.  Do we need 27 and 12 and 8 from him in his 4th season?

That seems unreasonable.

Does Lance Jones get to play shooting guard next year?  Does he even stay at SIU?

Will Scottie Ebube and Foster Wonders get free Quatros for life if they turn out to be good in their redshirt freshman seasons?

@gobluesaluki We split will Bradley scored the same amount of points.  UNI to a one possession game.    Played Drake to two one possession game.  We are distant from Loyola and MOST, but we can play with all the rest.

Rodney Watson just said this was an enjoyable basketball game, the way it’s supposed to be played. Lol.

He wasn’t yanked off the air mid sentence.

He’s right though. Get some athletes and provide some ENTERTAINING basketball.

Salukis were 0-8 against the Top 4, and 1-9 vs Top 5.

The End.  That’s pretty awful.  Close doesn’t count.  And they were not that close either.

I don’t think there is a tougher team than SIU in the MVC. But, effort alone doesn’t equate to winning the Title.

It was a great, well played basketball game. You lost all credibility with your Chris Lowery comment. I understand being both positive and negative at times, but you are all negative. You, in my humble opinion are a troll. You seem to be a troll in the vain of Dean with your pro-Lowery, anti-Mullins comments. If you were more even with your posts I wouldn't say you are a troll, but you are.

SIU has improved exponentially in the last 6 games or so.

We came back from down 17 in the 2nd half on the road to a very good team and almost pulled it off. SIU and its coaching staff certainly have a way to go, but they are improving. I think we will make some noise in the MVC tourney.

Yeah, I'm not usually (to say the least) a glass-half-full sort of guy, but to me a two-point loss in this game is preferable to the blowout that was cooking at halftime.

Frustrating as hell to lose another close one, but as losses go, I can stomach this one more than most.

And NO, I am not saying everything is great, so just cut that crap right now. Thanks.

(Inflammatory political snark)

Am I the only person that didn’t mind that performance? Best half they’ve played on the road all year, and coming off a four game winning streak? I think the team is playing well. Drake is more talented and better. Salukis played them til the end. Great game. Hopefully we can steal one Friday. Next year the improvement NEEDS to show. No excuses.

I was really happy with the 2nd half, especially Domask.  I didn't expect a win and I've kind of tuned out this season a few weeks ago so I'm not really too angry.  The wins against the bad teams are nice and I'm not going to complain about them but they also weren't telling me anything about this team's progress.

Yes. I’m the Dean guy from the old website.  Give me a fu*king break.

I like Chris Lowery, and I think he has some good qualities as a coach.  But I don’t think he did a good job in the long run at all.  He isn’t really suited to be a head coach in a variety of ways.  He doesn’t have the personality.

I like Bryan Mullins a lot.  As a player and I loved that he was hired as the head coach.

But these 3 years have been underwhelming.  Nobody expected him to lead SIU to the NCAA already.

But he is not close.

Im sorry you think I’m a troll.  I don’t come off well sometimes but I am definitely not a troll.  I care about the school and the athletic teams a lot.  For many decades.

I wouldn't say they've improved exponentially.  There has been some improvement but a lot of that is the schedule eased up at the end of the year.  They deserve credit for not dropping any games to the bottom 4 of the Valley though.

I think a lot of the improvement that has happened lately has been Domask scoring much better (which is great going forward) but a lot of it is Ben Coupet doing the same and you're going to lose Coupet for sure after this year.

That was a hell of an effort…I have to say I really didn’t like the play call at the end. I know Domask had been pretty dominant the second half, but there was not enough time on the clock for that. Put him in a really bad spot catching the ball with 2.5 seconds. I thought they were for sure going to run something to get Jones downhill and have your shooters in the corners for a kick out (maybe Domask setting a pick for him at the top of the key and flashing out to give another option).

At the end of the day, that games was lost in the first half. Poor defense, too many turnovers  and rebounding. Couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn to boot. Showed a lot of passion and guts making the comeback.

Some positive news:

SIU is currently 120th in KenPom which is the highest they've been all season.  They started the year 134th and hit a high of 121st before their loss to Northeastern in the Virgin Island.

Can still change in St Louis but it would be their highest KenPom ranking to end a season since 2008 whey they finished 62nd.  The best under Hinson was 135th in 2018 and the best so far under Mullins was 178th in 2020.

Agree that Domask rediscovering his scoring touch is encouraging. Awful first half, great second half. The team has fought to the finish this season … props to them for that. The areas for off-season improvement are evident and hopefully can be remedied.
