I don't think/know if Evansville improves or implodes by March. Indifferent to them actually.
I do however believe that the SALUKIS will indeed improve by March, and will be playing their best basketball.
GO DAWGS!
It is hard to win on the road in the Valley, against any team, even the lower rated teams. Sometimes it is hard to win at home against those teams, as your Murray State Racers found out. Some dwell upon finding the dark clouds behind every silver lining though.Pretty dominate performance all around. Awesome to win by this much with Domask only scoring 5 points! See so many posts just talking about how bad Evansville is and very few giving credit to our defense (I know both can be true). Just feels like anytime we have a good showing it's always team X is so bad, not we made team X look so bad, so hesitant to give our guys credit when they have a good game, but we are sure quick to put it on them when they play poorly.
Was nice to see our guys can indeed hit shots from outside, but still don't want them to fall in love with the 3 ball. Lots of good stuff from out guards attacking the basket and finishing or kicking out. Still a bit too many turnovers for my liking, but I think that aggressiveness lead to a lot of the open outside shots. Hopefully we can improve our decision making in that area a bit more. We're not going to shoot like that every night, but those guys getting some confidence can go a long way, especially given our next two games are going to require us to score some points if we want to win, even if we play solid defense.
Lance, Rupert, Domask, etc. all played great...and we shot 60% including four 3s from XJ. Fun to watch, but let's be honest.
Evansville won 6 games total last year (and one was over a D3 team), two in the MVC, and they're almost certainly worse this year. Still wondering how they beat Miami O.
But it's good to pound the teams you should pound. Probably the easiest conference game we'll have this year other than UE at SIU.
The Jerry Sloan days are long gone. They should have kept Marty Simmons..he at least got some talent in there.

Saying that a team we blew out is really bad is blasphemy I guess. Sorry reality isn't to your liking.
A lot of folks here are putting words in my mouth. I said more than once we played great, shot great, etc. When you shoot 60%, you're going to blow out a lot of teams. Hope we shoot that against SLU.
SLU is way more talented than a weak Evansville team. Hope XJ is 4 for 4, Lance plays like an NBA guard again, and Marcus gets 32.

If you're going to argue Evansville should have kept Simmons even longer you should also argue SIU should have given Hin--- another five years. Both were around a long time and never made meaningful postseason play (NCAA or NIT).
Letting Simmons go was the right move. The McCarty/Lickliter fiascos were the problem. I think Ragland has a chance to dig them out of the abyss.
By the way, Simmons' second EIU squad is 1-7 after a 20-point home loss to Northern Illinois last night.
Simmons did have one really good team in 2015 that lost the MVC Championship to UNI by 2 pts. D.J. Balentine was quite the player. They beat us twice that year and went 25 - 9.
In 2014 they won 24 games and the College Insider tournament.
After 2015, it was downhill. Simmons did put together a tougher schedule than Coach Chickenshit Barbecue at SIU.
Think it'll be harder to recruit any talent at EIU, not that Evansville is an attractive place for talented players. EIU has never to my knowledge had a decent basketball team.
Despite being a tiny school and being bad for as long as I've been an SIU fan, Evansville seems to have a solid fanbase. It helps being located in a basketball crazy part of Indiana. I think they'd really support a winner.
Ragland and his staff at least appears to have energy that that program hasn't had in the past. I think he's got a good class signed for next year. It wouldn't surprise me if they eventually ascend from the basement of the Valley.

Ragland has been shooting for big names in recruiting. No idea if they’ll land any but I’ve seen them recruiting 4 and 5 stars.

Not sure how they could land any but if they did, it would only take a couple for them to really make some noise in this league.

I stand by those words. Honesty IS the best policy!! 😍
Beauchamp played 11 minutes on Wednesday and just left the Evansville program

A question if you transfer at the semester are you eligible to play at that time or have to wait till next fall just curious with these new portal rules and one time transfer without penalty just curious
