Well Indiana State, in the same situation with less resources, just beat an Evansville team that beat SIU soundly in Evansville and lost to Bradley by 1 in OT.

SIU is now 0-4 in conference with their average loss being by 20 pts.

I think Hack a Shaq shot a higher free throw per centage than this team.

Nagy had been floundering at Wright State.

Since the portal really kicked in along with NIL, his teams were 36-29(23-17). He has openly talked about how he doesn't like using the portal. And he was 58 years old.

I genuinely don't understand their thought process.

The consensus was that he used the portal very well after getting hired here.

There aren’t many guys I need to see run it back next year. Sharp is one I’d be happy to have return (as a backup). He at least will scrap out there.

I'm not so sure it's a lack of effort as much as it is that we just suck.

We can't make lay-ups, free throws, mid-range jumpers, or 3-pointers.  Most of our guys don't even look to shoot when they get the ball.  The only ones who do (Hensley & Steffe) are NOT good at it.

I'd keep MAYBE 5-6 guys for next year and try to recruit over the rest.

PS- Nagy isn't going anywhere.  He's #17 in the nation in D1 wins.

The university cannot afford to fire Nagy until after year 5 period.

The Board of Trustees could free up some cash by relieving Austin and Tim of their duties.

This is a bad team. I really hope we can win a few. Otherwise a few on here may have the men in the little white coats come knocking. Sure glad no one is talking about firing Nagy.

Redturds 61%, 46% threes, 77% FTs, rbs 38, 6 steals

Salukis 36%, 20% threes, 43.5% FTs, 26 rbs, 12 steals

Dibba had 5 steals, 9 points, and led us with 8 rbs.

They shot our of their minds and killed us on the boards. We shot poorly as usual, even though we took more shots than they did.

First rule of coaching - get good players. We don't have enough of those this year, especially with Davis not playing. Must be sick or injured. Hopefully not doghoused!

Seems like Kennard wasn't benched due to injury

After seeing him play, I'm surprised he didn't get more minutes last year.

That was one pathetic showing.  What are they teaching these kids during practice?

Sounds like they’re committed to more trapping/pressure defense going forward. They did force 17 turnovers today. Not sure they have enough quality depth to sustain that effectively for weeks but better than just moping along with the status quo.

The hot seat and fired are not the same thing. But if there isn't noticeable improvement by next year and year 3 year 3 should be it.

It's starting to look like a really bad hire.

Nagy has a better shot of retiring than getting fired after 3 years with his contract

Agreed. SIU simply does not have the money to buy him out until after the fourth or fifth year of his six-year contract.

My guess is that he either adjusts and turns things around or that he determines he's just not cut out for the portal/NIL era, throws up his hands and walks away (maybe as soon as after next season if it's anything like this one) as several veteran coaches have done recently.
