@fraydog I believe he's just pointing out that we don't HAVE ANY large donors. 🤣

I thought that people would be able to read into it and figure out who I was asking about. My bad.

I cannot believe grown men get so upset at the people they are suppose to support.  I will support Mullins and the team until there is a change.  This was very disappointing, but embarrassing? I think not!  It is basketball!  The only reason I subscribe to ESPN plus is to watch Saluki sports and I will continue to do so.  Go Dawgs

If people are still upset, that means there’s still a few out there that care. The thing you should be afraid of is apathy. If people don’t care at all, that means we’re cooked.

I didn’t even watch and I logged in more to see if anyone was even upset. The fact people still care is a good thing. Does it matter if it’s positive or negative, not really.

They lost by 29 points and this game was essentially over at halftime.  How much do they have to lose by before you DO call it embarrassing?

There might not be enough talent to have a big season with all 13 guys available, but they’re playing with nine available right now with Ferguson added to the list. Then when a few of those nine aren’t playing well … or in the case of tonight, most of those nine … not good.

That said, tonight was the first egg laid so far this season. Let’s see how it looks against the Billikens and Cowboys, hopefully with some good crowds to help.

SIU's injuries suck, especially Ferguson, but Indiana State was missing Conwell who will probably be on an All-Valley team this year

A good season is to compete and keep our heads above water. If that’s not happening, that’s when people should be concerned. This wasn’t a great start.

I think the biggest concern is the lack of a future right now.  Even in Mullins' first 2 years they had Domask & Jones to sell something.  A coach potentially on the hot seat could easily sell incoming high school recruits as a reason to stay...Mullins can't even do that here.  X will be gone next year and with another portal whiff this team is in Lowery territory.

Now wait a minute. Most on here were sure the reason Loyola was so good was BM's recruiting! Moser was just hanging on Brian's coat tails.

It was the start of MVC play but there were five games before tonight, including a pretty strong showing in Cancun. I’m concerned myself but let’s try to be fair.

I hate to think that maybe last year was Mullins' high water mark.  He's so easy to root for and I believe we all hoped he was the guy.  But he absolutely should be on the hot seat right now.  Other than Domask, we've only come up with one (Xavier) maybe two (Kennard) legit recruits under this regime.  And our new big-time recruiter, Jerrance Howard has netted us exactly zero so far.

I still don't understand Bryan's fascination with playing small ball.  We get killed inside every time we do it.  I also don't understand his love for certain players who scored zero points tonight and allowed their man to blow by them on defense multiple times.  One of them even got blown by in the frigging MVC commercial.  FloorburnU, my ass.

I hope we look a lot better going forward than tonight would indicate.  I also hope we sign some bonafide difference-makers in the Spring.  Otherwise, I don't see how this staff gets extended.

And Indiana State doesn’t have great depth so should’ve been a big break for Southern. Saw he was at a family funeral and should be back for a great matchup with Bradley this weekend.

I think we will shoot much better at home. The miasma of Terrible Haute affected most of our guys. Troy should learn to avoid those deep breathing exercises in that poor excuse for a town.  Desoto puts it to shame!

More like obsession. That small ball stuff has little chance of working against any decent D1 team IMO. After losing a game last year when we should have tied for the MVC title, he's still doing it. Probably thinks it adds quickness, but we don't have a quick team, with a couple of exceptions.

Fact is, we just don't have enough talent.

I was very happy when BM was hired.  I thought he could take us to the next level.  Now reality has reared it's ugly head again.

I am going to make three statements and ask one question.  These statements are of course, nothing but my own opinion.

Our current coaching staff is not good at recruiting.  Our current coaching staff has done very poorly working the transfer portal compared to other MVC teams.  This staff has had 4 years to prove the 2 preceding statements wrong.

Does anyone on this forum really believe next year will be better ?

Very sad for a once proud program.  Enough said
