Is there an illness going through the team?  They seemed really sluggish.

They got into the paint well, especially early, but missed so many bunnies.  Then they were horrendous at the line.  Can't expect to shoot threes like we did last game, but we're better than we shot today.  Just an average shooting game in those three areas and any life at all on defense, and it's a close game.

I would attribute today to a lack of leadership. Not anywhere near the needed focus.

Two phrases I’m hereby banning until further notice is “Banterra magic” and “The Mayo Effect.” Though it really should fall more on the seniors.

Once the eventual loss happens in the Lou, either Thursday or Friday, it'll be 18 years since the Dawgs even got to the MVC Final, let alone won it.  Here's a quick peek at how many other teams have reached the Final since SIU was last there:

Illinois State - 6 Finals appearances (at least the RedTurds lost em all)
Drake - 5 (3 titles)
Northern Iowa - 5 (4 titles)
Wichita State - 4 (2 titles)
Loyola - 3 (3 titles)
Bradley - 3 (2 titles)
Indiana State - 3 (1 title)
Creighton - 2 (2 titles)
Missouri State - 1
Evansville - 1
Valparaiso - 1

Watching Bradley pull away from Northern Iowa here in the second half, and if the Braves win that auto-bid next Sunday, their 3-point shooting can absolutely get them a few wins as a #12 or #13 seed in the Dance.  The Braves are currently 11-24 from deep in this one, and they're just under 41 percent for the season, tops in the entire nation.

Hopefully Evansville wins and we get the 10 seed. I’d much rather take our ass kicking in a prime time slot Thursday instead of at noon.

Evansville is playing about as well as Southern did today.

Illinois State is smoking Evansville so unless Evansville makes a huge comeback we will be the 8 seed in St Louis against Indiana State at noon on Thursday. The winner will get Drake at noon on Friday. Does anyone know what are the SIU sections? This is the 1st year in a while I haven't bought an all session pass through SIU.

Thanks, I suppose there's a chance Indiana State ends up with a better NET than us and then we get the 9 seed, but that doesn't change the matchup. They were 23 spots below us before the game. We were 190 and they were 213. Should be much closer after this blowout, but we'll still probably still be slightly ahead in the NET.

Drake was inexplicably down 40-30 at home to Missouri State early in the second half, and have since cut it to 40-35, but if you wanna put a fork into ANY shot at an at-large, losing at home to the last place Bears would do it.

Still a good 13 minutes left for the Bulldogs to take over and keep their at-large chances.

Evansville has fought back in the 2nd half with a 16-6 run to cut the Redbirds lead to 1

Drake and Missouri State headed to OVERTIME.... the Bears had the final shot to win, but Dez White misses a 3 and the Bulldogs' at-large chances survive for at least another five minutes.

Illinois State is going to beat Evansville so I think that locks us into Indiana State in the 8-9?

This team is the most Jekyll and Hyde team I’ve ever watched. It’s really amazing how bad they can look sometimes and how good. Unfortunately we are seeing the bad version right now, the really bad version.

Co-sign!

For those blaming the coaches for not having them ready, I don't think it's their faults. Nagy has said multiple times he's baffled by this teams lack of desiee and motivation. I'm willing to be patient with coach. He's got two more years in my opinion to right the ship before I bail on him.

Drake scores the first nine points of OT to survive, and their at-large shot's still intact for now.  That would've been a surefire killer to their hopes, but a win's a win!

@siu-alum-05 In the pregame interview with Luke he said the team was ready he was happy in how they were prepared and there was no use in going over anything has they had it down and let them out of practice early this was the last practice at home before the trip to ISU blue all i can say is oops 😬
