The fact that they even had a chance to win that with 23 turnovers and 23 field goals is amazing. I don't think Little Rock is any better than predicted but I do think SIU's expectations need to be lowered.
The only reason it was that close was that ULR shot 13% (2-15) from 3pt land and a lot of those misses were wide open shots. If they hit the normal %, this loss would have been double digits.
someone's got some splaining to do. absolutely bush league to let someone get an uncontested layup in that situation. that was a worse last minute collapse than most berryball. shot clock violation with a chance to win and then give up a damn layup. this was not acceptable in any sense of the word.

There is no excuse for this performance.
This was a ‘Final two years of Chris Lowery’ performance. Completely sloppy.
23 turnovers against a team like this is unacceptable. Losing to what will probably be a bottom 100 team is a problem.
And, I’ll be honest: I can usually find a silver lining after just one game…but a team looking THIS LOST over a 30 minute stretch of basketball is troubling to say the least. It looks very much like the team we saw in conference play last year.
And it certainly looks like this team will struggle against ‘long’ teams…but that was known.
Just an abysmal performance.
Another item: I can’t identify who the team leaders are. I don’t know who ‘needs’ to have the ball.
It just looks like a guessing game.
I’ve kind of lost the want/need to watch sloppy basketball. Extremely disappointing.

Glad hoops are back, but this team is not ready for prime time. First game, I know but another really poor performance overall, first 10 minutes aside. LOTS of work to do. Still not worried.
Well, you should be. We have nothing. No point guard. No shooters. No inside presence. No ball handlers. No passers. No defenders. No coaching. No discipline. No confidence. We played like a scared grade school team tonight.
Weber era spoiled us. We all know that kind of success would not continue, but after Lowery’s first few years, I didn’t think it would be THIS TOUGH.
Wichita and Creighton are long gone. Who else has to exit the Valley for SIU to be back in the conversation? Ugh.
I still baffles me that Mullins coached teams can be so...leaky defensively.
They really need to slow it down. Playing fast does not suit this team especially with as poor defensively as it is.
I think its almost to the point that Banks gets a game over Jones. Or both at the same time. Jones running the point is counterproductive.
I’ve watched nearly every game the last three years and after watching that mess, I say the following with 100% confidence; that was THE WORST Mullins coached game so far at SIU and it isn’t even close.
Thanks for the November 9th sober up. I would’ve hated to remain overconfident for at least a few games into the season.
agree 100%

I actually thought the defense was fine, especially in the 2nd half. I'm still not seeing things I saw in his first year when the team was a top tier defensive team in the country but I don't think the defense lost them this one. Too many turnovers and the team couldn't buy a basket for at least a 15 minute game stretch.
good thing we didn't broadcast that home exhibition game so that little rock wouldn't have anything to scout.

The reason for that was hilarious.
I’m genuinely depressed.
It’s honestly more than the result. I don’t feel confident about the future of the program. Some real concerning coaching issues tonight.

To add context, one of the reasons SIU was "top tier" defensively was due to the fact that they played at a snails pace.
