@siu_2011 just having Marcus and JD healthy would be a significant step up. People tend to overlook that we started 7-0 last year.

With a healthy JD I agree the defense and rebounding should improve. We started 7-0 with Domask but the majority of that was done by outscoring people. Our D felt shaky during that stretch even with Domask present. Once we got in to conference play and Domask got hurt, our scoring dipped and we weren't able to overcome our defensive woes (poor on ball defending being the most egregious).
We should be better with the added depth and a healthy roster (knock on wood). I'm sure Mullins made defensive improvement a priority over the off-season!

They were forced to play Filewich big minutes way earlier than they expected and him and D'Avanzo aren't the best defensive pairing. I think putting Muila next to both of them will help a ton plus I expect Filewich to take a step up defensively now that he's a year in.
I really want to see Harvey take a step up too, thought he was probably the biggest liability on the defensive end last year.
I didn't realize Coupet has been out, or at least hampered for, THREE weeks by the hamstring injury. As a result, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't start tomorrow, but that doesn't change my thoughts that he will be a starter in the near future.

Yeah guessing it was more precaution. I think he'll still start but I'm guessing him and Brown are gonna be on some kind of minutes restriction. Don't want to mess with hamstrings and backs early in the season.
I am not going to be surprised if Ebube redshirts.
I think you might be right. Mullins seemed open to the idea in the presser today (didn't mention Ebube directly but you'd have to think he's the most likely to redshirt). Ebube likely won't get much playing time this year and maybe next year too with Muila back and Cade coming in. You'd rather have next year be his Freshman year with the limited minutes as opposed to that being his Sophomore season. Of course, injuries this year can change things.
The day we have been waiting for.
IT'S GAME DAY BABY

Ditto! Let's get the party started.
Go Salukis!
March on triumphantly!
Looking forward to this like the rest of ya'll. Probably the least daunting of the true road games, on paper, so it would be quite helpful to get this W. Three things I'm most curious about tonight:
1. Are they playing the caliber of Saluki defense that makes life not so fun for opponents? You know it when you see it, and there wasn't enough of it last year.
2. PG play: Is Lance mostly running the point, and has he made headway with improving his floor game/assist-to-turnover ratio? Related, how much do Banks and Jones play together?
3. How deep will they go on the bench early in the year (and will any of the freshmen see substantial minutes or is Mullins going to give the returnees first crack at earning time on a deep team)?
