We kicked their butt at the FT line though! Good team FT shooting is important.
Mullins mentioned we let the best shooter on the floor go off - without Mark Smith we're in the game.
That's a correction that should have been made in the 1st half. Get a quick defender on him and stick to him like glue. This sloughing off to the middle is what BBQ always did. Just a bad, bad idea when you are playing really good 3 pt shooters.
This is going to be a very long rebuild. Mizzoui isn’t a good team and they embarrassed us . This is depressing ☹️
Maybe Karrington Davis needs more playing time 🤔 one bright spot 😁
I mean, they were missing Cook and were playing 3 Freshmen heavy minutes at an SEC school. Didn't think it would be that bad but don't think that game made me think this rebuild is gonna take longer.
The Barbeque rebuild took seven years and never completed!
Maybe a little harsh I truly feel Mullins will get this fixed, just frustrated. 11 years of irrelevant basketball will do that 😬😬
I've asked numerous times before and I'll asking again. PLEASE stop bringing up Hinson in what is seemingly every thread. I was never a fan of his, nor am I now, but he's GONE. And the fact is that Chris Lowry ruined this program not Hinson. He brought in 'star' players who were not only selfish but extremely suspect academically and Hinson was brought in to fix that........and guess what?? He did. Shame on the AD for leaving him here that long. I only blame him for hanging on one year too long, but the man loved it here so I hardly blame him. Regardless if you agree with my thoughts on C-LO vs Hinson, perhaps you could start talking about the present or future and not the past, especially since it was so ugly.
I’m reminded of what I told myself before the season started. No expectations for this year, just sit back and watch a new era of Saluki basketball take shape. See the young players develop and the team find an identity. Hopefully see noticeable improvement.
Did MR ask why the big guys aren’t playing?
“The best thing about freshmen is that they become sophomores.”
-- Al McGuire
I'm guessing MR already knows the depressing answer to that question and so didn't bother asking it.
These guys can't get playing time on a team getting regularly outrebounded 37-21 (today's tally). I think the answer is right there if you apply Occam's razor. 😉
- Also, Dembele's stat line today: 7 minutes, 3 fouls. The last time he played significant minutes, I think it was 4 fouls in 9 minutes.
(Inflammatory political snark)
Late in the game Dembele made one very nice block!

It was the former chancellor, Kill, and Cook, not the ad. Tommy Bell was going to do the right thing and was thrown under the bus.

Joe Gottfried was brought up today and it's been about 40 years. I don't expect Huckytalk to disappear anytime in my lifetime. Do your part and don't give him another long rambling post.

When Jermaine Dearman arrived he could barely dribble and chew gum concurrently. Let’s be patient kids.

True. Sorry--didn't mean to suggest that Dembele was a lost cause, just that Mullins & Co. obviously don't think he's good enough at this point.

If you're gonna reply to me in the forums, please quote what I wrote that you're replying to so I have a clue...thanks! 😀
That was so collectively bad I just want to wipe it from my memory. I refuse to believe SIU is that bad this year, but we did just provide video evidence justifying the reason why we were picked to finish tenth. Just flush this game and move on.
Late in the game Dembele made one very nice block!
This sounds eerily familiar.. 😆

Not overly harsh. I haven't lost any patience or faith that Mullins will get this train properly on track, but facts are this team will not win anything significant without a substantial infusion of size and athleticism.
