Few Observations:

Missouri State is clearly a tier above us athletically. Really took it to us on the boards and just looked bigger and stronger all game.

This teams #1 priority this off-season should be to find a true point guard. Allow Jones to play his natural position as a scoring guard. He looks overwhelmed at times being asked to be main ball handler.

At the end of the day this is not the worst loss. We fought hard but in the end the better team won.

Im pretty sure MSU is the most talented team we have seen this year. If they played D like they play O they would be a great team. Overall, pretty happy with SIU's play in this game. Hopefully we will beat them at Bantera when they come to town.

And, on a side note, its always nice to have a game where Muila doesn't shoot any free throws. lol

I think the Bears went a perfect 18-for-18 from the FT line over the last ten minutes.  I'll give credit to the Dawgs for fighting to the bitter end, but it's hard to come all the way back when the other team just doesn't miss from the charity stripe.

I saw a better team this year than last versus MSU.

Yeah, we threw up a bunch of 3's, but that kept us in the game against a larger more athletic team. I am hopeful that that this game took us to the next level. We are still growing.

Go get em' guys.

Issue is how many games are we going to be able to hit 14 3's? We still were minus 11 on the boards. Something that was a big issue last year vs them as well

Gutty effort. I think we beat these guys at home. Good games by Coupet, Domask and Verplancken. I thought Fillewich had a decent game in limited minutes. With a healthy Lance Jones maybe this game has a different outcome.

I would love to see a well officiated mvc game this year, but I'm not holding my breath!

I think we have shown we can play with anyone in the mvc this year.

Need to win Saturday.

We just got beat by a better team tonight.  Hard to come back on a team that hits 18 free throws in a row down the stretch.  THAT'S how you put somebody away.  Game effort by the Dawgs.

Lance isn’t shooting or attacking as effectively as he has at times in the past. I’m sure it’s primarily his toe situation, but Southern needs him at his best to beat the more athletic and talented teams like Missouri St. He still plays hard but probably should calibrate his offensive approach for the way he’s shooting it.

Not terribly disappointed. Salukis played hard but some of the usual issues reared their ugly heads. Yeah, MSU is big and athletic, but we hung with them for the most part. I still don't get the free throw thing and the timid approach to shooting. Domask looks for the open man which I like, but he also passes up good looks too often. He's such a good shooter, wish he would take more shots.

March on triumphantly!

Coupet has added a lot to the team but it’s telling that he wasn’t matched up defensively with Mosley much, instead mostly using smaller defenders like Verplancken and Brown. Too bad Lucas Williamson-style defenders don’t grow on trees.

I drafted MSU in my $$ College Hoops pool so I've watched most of their games.  They are not nearly as good a TEAM as San Francisco.  MSU has more athleticism but they are so poorly coached that overall they fail in comparison.  Well at least in my opinion.  I'm biased mind you bc they have struggled often this season.

I could see that if he tightens a few things up and keeps scoring like he has been lately. When he’s locked in, he can be elite.

Speaking of which, been too damn long since the Salukis churned out an NBA player …

So our basic offensive plan is to pass the ball around a minimum of 12 times, then shoot a three, or is it a crappy pass to the interior for a turnover.

I can’t remember in the last 15 years that SIU scored on a called play after a timeout.

Oh well, they are hitting some threes to stay in it.  Because once the threes dry up, SIU can’t penetrate, score inside, or rely on Domask to score on his patented pirouette shot

Domask’s game winning 3 against Mo State a couple years back rings a bell. I actually have felt over the past couple years we have scored quite a bit out of a time out. Specifically at the end of the first half where there is almost always a timeout called.
