Look at the stats. We lost this game in the rebounding column. They out rebound us 45 to 25 and get 17 offensive rebounds. We actually shot better than they did. So frustrating to see teams get 2 or 3 extra baskets because they get easy offensive put backs.

TB only played 13 minutes - no shots, 2 TOs.

I was impressed with Francois today. Shot well, was much more intense on D, had a steal, and grabbed 4 RBs in only 17 minutes. Really thought he should have played more in the 2nd half since we were so gassed!

Lance Jones was pretty good today. 4 - 10, had 10 pts, a couple of steals, played very tough D on Greene (2 - 12, only 9 pts). At one point he stole the ball twice in a row from Greene and scored on breakaways. He did miss the front end of a 1 and 1 and only hit 1 - 3 FTs. After Jones hit his head, he played a couple of minutes, checked out and never came back.

Domask only took 7 shots, had 4 pts, but he did have 8 rbs.

McGill was just 4 - 13 and 2 -4 FTs.

This pretty much says it all.

For whatever reason, the Salukis has a serious case of dick fingers today. The rebounding was atrocious, as was the positioning, but they would lose the ball when it fell into their hands.

Also have to ask, is Harvey a good free throw shooter?

March on triumphantly!

This was a game where the lack of post depth was problematic. Once Benson was in foul trouble, the other lineups were out of rhythm and couldn’t stop UNI inside or keep them off the glass. And by the time Benson came back, the crowd was engaged and the Panthers were a different team.

If I heard him right Lunardi said that if UNI wins out and then loses in the conference championship game at Arch Madness that they would be in.  I think that is a fair opinion.  May not end up being true but we will see.  UNI is a very solid team and well coached.  I can see that scenario playing out but they will still be favorites to win both regular season and tournament championships.  We had a really good first half all things considered.  Overall yes they out rebounded us, they played better defense on us the second half than the first, and when they made their big run we had something of a choke time.  Not necessarily unexpected with the youth of this team.  I am really impressed with Lance's guarding of Green.  He did a great job.

I wish we had done better the second half but the effort was there.  Before they went on their run we were ahead 43-40.  We had withstood one run but couldn't handle the next one.  We missed free throws, which hurt.  I wish we had won but I can see why we didn't.  Playing a very tough and very good team on the road and they are unbeaten at home this year.

With two pretty tough games to play to end the season I am thrilled at where we are at and what the future holds.  I hope we win these next two and show well in the tournament but whatever happens from here on out this team and these coaches have shown their heart and fight and the improvement from day 1 to where we are at now has been really something fun to watch.

We held Greene to 9, Berhow to 3. Normally that's a win, but

Fife's girlfriend must have been at the game. He played like a 1st team All-MVC - 18 rbs, 17 pts, 2 blocks, 5 assists. Killed us. 7 - 10 shooting!

Brown also - 15 pts.

SIU gave UNI a run for their money, but the ~10 minutes lull where they couldn't score and couldn't grab a board was their undoing.  Mullins & Co still have to come up with a couple of quality low post players for next season.  6'8" or taller, that has some serious rebounding skills is a must in my opinion.

What a roller coaster ride that was.  Tremendous comeback to take the lead before halftime.  Followed by the shittiest second half I've ever seen.  Add me to the list of those who think Trent Brown is getting way too much playing time.

I'm just not going to b1tch about anything with this team, tempting as it is to do so.

We were picked to finish LAST--and rightfully so, which historically means 4-14, 5-13, etc.--and here we were fighting for first. I just can't muster up the energy to discuss what-if when we were visiting a top 50 team and lost.

I just watched the game on replay and man was that a disappointing second half (sans the first 4 minutes). Rebounding was obviously the biggest issue of the night...It’s been quite some time since I’ve seen such an ass whooping on the glass. Way too many missed box outs, balls slipping through hands, and generally getting out worked for the ball (this is the most frustrating of the three). I watched Pickford get 2 offensive rebounds between Benson and Brown purely based on effort. They shouldn’t be ashamed of losing to a good team but, the effort on the boards tonight should embarrass them.

I’m not usually one to complain about the refs but I thought they were hot garbage too. Wouldn’t have changed the outcome but UNI got the benefit of a lot of calls. McGill got to the rim a bunch but never got a call (he got bodied quite a few times).

Disappointing game but not a surprise result. Need to get back home and regroup. Get ready for a big game Wednesday.

Don't get the Brown stuff really, he only played 13 minutes today which is one of his lowest totals in conference play.  He's got work to do this offseason and hopefully he gets some confidence early next year in non-conference play.  I think the fanbase really appreciates what he brings to the table even when he's not been shooting well.

One of his turnovers led directly to a run-out in the thick of UNI’s big run, he left Haldeman for a wide-open corner 3 and his presence on the floor (compared to, say, Francois or Davis) doesn’t help from a rebounding standpoint. That said, it was a collective meltdown in the second half ... no one stepped up to stop the bleeding.

I know McGill scored 11, but he took a lot of ill-advised, wild shots today, mainly because we were just having trouble getting off a shot.

We need more offensive firepower, especially when MD is being smothered. That's one reason I say Davis can possibly help. However, he never got in the game today. Was he on the bench, sick?? No idea.
