That said, this team is 100% capable of beating anyone, any time, anywhere. I truly believe that. If we see them on a Saturday afternoon in STL I give us more than a punchers chance to pull it off.
Also, Trent can't play. I am sorry but his turn overs and unwillingness to even attempt to rebound were absolutely glaring. He watched someone get two rebounds over him while he literally stood and looked up. He can't make an open shot, can't take care of the ball. Rather Francois play or ever Gooch at this point.
I have to constantly remind myself not to speak or write with emotion and instead use facts. Brown's Assist to Turnover ratio is better than Francois and infinitely better than Davis (not that you mentioned him). We ALL know he cannot shoot this year, I wish I knew why, but my prediction is that if he stays all four years, he will have a big impact on this program and leave being a fan favorite.

You're cherry picking! Brown has played far more minutes - 599. Francois - 466, Davis - 258.
Here's some cherry picking: Both Davis and Francois have lower turnovers per minute than Brown! Both Davis and Francois score more than twice as many points per minute!
To put it in perspective, in most categories, Kendall Brown-Surles had far better stats as a freshman (18.9 mpg) than Brown. A lot of folks didn't think KBS belonged on a D1 team.

LOL - I specifically choose ratio to not cherry pick. I hope no one is offended by this, but Mullins and his staff are playing Brown right now for a reason and I trust them way more than anyone on this board, including Barkeep !!! (Sorry BK)

Trent will be fine. Don't you think he is putting enough pressure on himself, besides the comments of a few people. Kid works his butt off. Breath please.
I am just telling you what I see. Brown is an absolute liability. He can at times get into the lane but cannot finish at all around the basket and makes poor decisions once he gets in there. He misses open shots that are in the perfect flow of the offense and offers absolutely no ability to rebound the basketball. Francois shows an ability to rebound and has been making shots. If this team is going to be good in 2 years I would think Trent will be the 10th or 11th option.

I would never question his heart or work ethic and you can tell he is a fantastic kid. That does not make you a mid major D1 basketball player. I'm sorry, it just doesn't.
I think it’s a matter of confidence for Brown, I’m interested to see what he does next year after an offseason to work on his game. You look on YouTube and he’s beyond impressive as a shooter. Seems to me like he hesitates a lot out there compared to high school where he would catch and shoot in stride.

Your not breathing.
Saluki4Life, I am of the opinion that Brown will be a very good player for us in the future. Growing pains of moving up into DI basketball and he would have benefited from a redshirt year. That being said, my money would be on him being a contributing player next year and the years to come. With Domask and Harvey stretching the court and if we get a presence inside I think Brown will ultimately be that guy draining threes when he is stepping into those shots. I think we have to be patient with all of the young guys to some extent and recognize that this is their first years at this level. All I know is it should be fun and it is fun again already.

Excellent post!
Trent Brown will be fine. It speaks a lot to the character of the kid that he's struggled so much shooting the basketball; knows he's struggling and not playing anywhere near his potential, and still puts in the effort and does the little things; whatever he can to help this team win. His shot will eventually start falling. He's way too good of a shooter not to. Just do some research.
Someone already mentioned that he hesitates. I think that's true in part. In my opinion, he's overthinking while on offense and not just playing. Basketball is a funny game sometimes. You can think yourself out of everything you know and are familiar with, particularly on offense, if you do it enough. Nothing is flowing naturally for him right now. He very likely needs the off-season to help sort it out. He needed a Redshirt.
All that said, this team has a shot at being very good next year. If they're to reach peak potential, Brown will be a key part of it.
--Insert something witty here--
Let’s remember, had Cook not gone down, Brown’s playing time would have been about half of what it became. I suspect his time will be less next year too.

The jury is still out. I hope that vaunted shot arrives - we could use it. If it doesn't, he will play very little in the future.
Folks are understandably in "bluebird on my shoulder" mode right now with our team and coach. Reality may eventually settle in.
He needed a redshirt year. He is a smart kid that plays hard. His shot will come and he will play for SIU in the NCAA tournament before he is done
